Make an impact with our Tax team as an Accountant. This diverse team of professionals delivers customized tax strategies within a complex and dynamic regulatory framework. Responsibilities
- Set-up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses, manage multiple files simultaneously and conduct inventory counts
- Assist in the preparation personal tax returns, corporate tax returns, trust tax returns, partnership returns, capital dividend account elections, section 85 tax elections and other tax compliance forms
- Research various tax related issues and conclude on their potential implications
- Collect and analyze relevant financial and tax data
- Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns for various types of entities
- Assist in the preparation of tax instruction letters, technical memorandums and client reporting letters and documentation to support a working paper file
- Collaborate with client engagement team and build relationships with client contacts
- Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes while effectively using MNP internal programs and systems
- Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary
Skills and Experience
- Completion of, or working towards, a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major is preferred)
- Completion of, or working towards, prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) upon commencement of employment
- Previous tax or accounting related office experience is considered an asset
- Customer service and/or client service experience is considered an asset
- Computer skills that relate to programming or artificial intelligence is an asset
- Experience working with accounting and tax software is considered an asset
