The role is to provide an experienced business analysis skillset within the Transaction Management change team, based in Hong Kong it sits within Product as part of the Fund Services business within HSBC Securities Services. The Transaction Management team is a central component of the wider Trade and Investment Ops change portfolio, which exists to build and implement a technology and operating model infrastructure to support the provision of transaction management to Fund Services clients globally.
Transaction Management was established to deliver a key component of an overall buy-side Middle Office / Fund Accounting service offering. It provides a robust and scalable trade processing solution that is capable of supporting further HSBC buy-side entities such as Asset Management and Private Bank as well as external clients on a global basis, utilising a consistent service delivery model. The Transaction Management solution supports clients irrespective of their geographic location in a consistent manner, utilising a single global operating model.
The Transaction Management solution covers a wide range of instrument types for their full processing cycle including equities, bonds, FX, deposits, money market instruments, mutual funds and exchange traded derivatives. In addition, it covers OTC derivatives for trade capture, matching and settlement and OTC pricing via a specialised derivative processing system (Calypso). The primary solution base for trade matching and settlement for listed instruments is a vendor package from Fiserv called Tradeflow, with trade orchestration and enrichment being achieved through another vendor package called Markit EDM.
The solution supports interfaces to all our global Accounting & Valuation platforms and to Calypso for OTC derivative Life Cycle Management & Pricing.
The Opportunity:
Covering our global client base, the purpose of this role is to manage the onboarding and integration of Middle Office and Fund Accounting clients onto our strategic architecture, most commonly in the form of new client mandates or new Investment Manager relationships for our existing clients. This includes aligning to our standardised and repeatable approach for onboarding clients to the Transaction Management strategic architecture, whilst evolving to more efficient and effective processes where possible.
As part of the overall effort of migrating a client or fund onto the strategic architecture, the role will require the management and coordination of the following activities:

- Requirements exchange with client / instructing party based on scope of delivery
- Analysis of automated trade instructions (e.g. SWIFT, CSV, FIXML, FpML, etc), with a view to setting up and configuring client specific reference data within the Transaction Management architecture (Markit EDM, Calypso & TradeFlow)
- Coordination of connectivity set up requirements, covering RMAs, sFTP, and MQ channels
- Trade capture and connectivity testing with the instructing party, covering SIT, UAT, & JUAT cycles
- Management of OTC derivative migration activities, including ownership and creation of the associated governance (e.g. Terms of Reference docs and Run Books) and coordination of migration dry-run, Run Book, and pricing validation activities
- Work Stream Lead responsibilities for large strategic client programmes, including the creation and maintenance of necessary governance such as Scope Docs, RAID logs, Project Plans, etc. This aspect of the role leans on Project Management skillsets, with Transaction Management platform SMEs / BAs feeding into the Work Stream Lead, who drives the deliverables forward and works to negotiate blockers to delivery. Responsibilities also include management of cross-work stream dependencies, whilst directly reporting into the Programme Managers and senior sponsors

The onboarding process is often complex and necessitates the applicant to have a varied skill set. Responsibilities will include a combination of the following tasks:

- Workshop facilitation
- Creation & maintenance of Project Management documentation, including Project / Milestone Plans & migration Run Books
- Resource and capacity planning / monitoring
- BRD creation and / or sign off
- Gap analysis, alongside the identification of required build items to support new mandates or operating models, ensuring these are raised on the relevant Pod back-logs & tracked to completion accordingly
- Identify, document, track, & manage delivery milestones, actions, risks, issues, & dependencies
- Oversee the implementation of work stream deliverables, with accountability for timelines and wider Programme engagement
- Reporting and governance, with adherence to BTF2 (Business Transformation Framework) where appropriate
- Coordination of global Business Analysts, SMEs and multi-location project resources
- Collaboration with business oversight teams, ensuring appropriate buy-in for change
- Technical analysis of trade instructions across multiple formats, alongside connectivity set up
- Build out and configuration of platform specific reference data at client level

What you will need to succeed in the role:
- At least 8 years' experience in the Finance and Banking industry with relevant Business Analyst and/or Project Management experience preferable (familiarity of both Waterfall & Agile practices useful)
- The role will have a high business content and will naturally involve considerable exposure to global business users as well as IT analysts and knowledgeable clients and vendors, hence the successful applicant must have pertinent Middle Office / Fund Accounting service knowledge and product knowledge pertaining to asset types such as Equities, Bonds, FX, MM, Repos, ETD's, and OTC's derivatives
- Extensive knowledge of internal systems including Markit Trade, TradeFlow, and Calypso are highly desirable, as is working knowledge of the Fund Services standard operating model. Knowledge of other transaction management platforms / architecture is also useful, as is an understanding of the end-to-end flow of transactions in the relevant service offerings
- Strong inter-personal and communication skills; must be capable of producing clear, unambiguous status reports, minutes and actions, making presentations to internal audiences, and interacting positively with various internal and external stakeholders
- Must be able to work independently, whilst demonstrating strong analytical and coordination skills
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with colleagues, clients and third parties
- Ability to plan and organise workloads to meet deadlines, taking into account relative priorities
- Proficiency in the creation and maintenance of project governance
- Knowledge and exposure to JIRA, SQL, & the full range of Microsoft Office software
