The purpose of this role is to act as Custodian of all R&D Finance Data. In addition, to be the Finance Subject Matter Expert in all other areas that integrate with R&D. In doing so, this role is responsible for the relevant data design for each system and the documentation of the associated technical and process elements.
The Data Steward is responsible for maintaining the data definitions for all R&D Finance Data related objects, including the responsibility for maintaining and communicating the Finance data standards for R&D.
They will assess business requirements for new Master Data fields and drive the business towards common, simple, standard global data standards that will be supporting our reporting needs.
The nature of the role will vary over time; sometimes the focus will be on significant transformation and at other times it will be on keeping the process on track and driving process adoption / adherence.

- Responsible for establishing and maintaining working relationships with key stakeholders within the business function as a critical link between the R&D Finance organisation and other business areas.
- Maintain the KPI’s, communicating and driving improvements in R&D Finance master data.
- Responsible for the maintenance and review of the R&D Finance Data Dictionary content and business requirement documentation for data quality reporting
- Actively identify and raise data management improvement opportunities and potential continuous improvement initiatives with both internal and external teams
- Embed Data Quality in data processes to support the delivery of Right First Time Data and attend the various data forums representing R&D Finance
- Provide training, tools and techniques to enable others to achieve the data quality required
- Perform trend analysis to articulate business value and impact of data quality issues and improvements
- Set priority on error resolution, working in partnership with other relevant teams to resolve cross-functional issues
- Represent functional area of data to Data Owners, operational heads and on key Governance Forums, also manage and resolve data issues and escalations through Data Governance forums and processes
- Support the Data Owner and Data Manager in developing content for and cascading communications around the value of data quality, policy, standards, and rules across data within your functional area

- Experience supporting best practices for Enterprise MDM
- Experience in the maintenance and review of the content of Data Dictionary, Data Quality Rules monitoring and fixing data issues
- Good data analytical skills
- Proven track record managing MDM teams
- Knowledge of developing MDM Service capability to meet business growth plans
