Job Description & Summary

The Financial Controls accountant is responsible for ensuring that the firm's financial activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements. The role entails analyzing financial information, assisting with internal audits, identifying and resolving financial discrepancies, and implementing financial controls to prevent fraud and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the monthly review of balance sheets, trial balances and operating statements.
  • Assisting the vendor registration team by ensuring that vendor bank details are validated prior to registering any new vendors.
  • Ensuring that all policies and procedures are relevant and updated accordingly where appropriate, coordinating with One Finance teams to ensure completeness and sign-off.
  • Assisting in the monitoring of compliance with set policies and procedures. Support internal and external audit activities by providing requested documentation and addressing audit findings.
  • Liaising with the One finance teams to maintain and improve finance systems and processes.
  • Assisting in identifying areas for automation and process improvement to enhance accuracy and enhanced productivity.
  • Assisting in period closing activities (monthly & year-end). This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Monthly closing calendar review Trial balance/ OS reviews (ME & Country specific)
  • Balance sheet reviews (ME & Country specific)
  • Central transaction processing.
  • Country Finance deliverables review Including such other duties that may be assigned to you by your manager

Preferred skills

  • Strong analytical skills, Attention to detail, Problem-solving skills, Communication skills, Interpersonal skills,
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • A master's degree or professional certification (e.g CPA, CMA, CA, ACCA) is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and relevant regulations (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting techniques.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide meaningful insights.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., ERP systems, financial modeling software).
  • Solid understanding of internal controls, risk management, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior management.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and precision.
