Northern Trust provides their clients with comprehensive Investment Operations Outsourcing middle office solutions covering the full universe of: trade services, asset services, client reporting, performance measurement, derivatives operations and collateral management.
This is a great opportunity for the successful candidate to join the Investment Management Support (IMS) team and play a key role in the day to day management and success of an expanding Investment Operations outsourcing platform implemented by Northern Trust.
The Investment Management Support (IMS) team provide a full and in depth transition service to Investment Managers. These include Institutional Clients investing in Pooled Funds; LDI and Segregated mandates. Typical products include OEIC’s; Sicav’s; QIF’s; Onshore/Offshore Unitised pooled vehicles; Swaps; Repo’s; Futures; Equities; and Bonds.
We are currently recruiting a Transitions Manager to ensure accurate project management and timely completion of all client events (new business/clients; lost business/clients; fund launches/closures/restructures; custodian changes; new market set-up’s; unit trust a/c set-up’s, static data changes).
The key responsibilities of the role include:
- Coordinate Transition activities, including in-specie transfers; custody changes; new and lost business; fund launches/closures/restructures; unit trust a/c set-up’s; market account openings; standing instructions updates and static data changes.
- Ensures that Transitions events are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Acts as key contact for various internal and external partners, including business unit partners, internal auditors, external stakeholders.
- Demonstrate operational expertise (in particular, knowledge of investment management industry, back and middle office workflows and supporting service providers) and proven track record with implementing complex operating models.
- Excellent project management and leadership skills.
- Maintain effective working relationships with external vendors and counterparties to resolve issues efficiently, including Custodians.
- Operates independently; has in-depth knowledge of the business unit / function.
- Participate in internal or client driven change projects and oversee process improvement initiatives through to implementation.
- Carries out activities that are large in scope, cross-functional and technically challenging
- Own and coordinating any ad-hoc IMS projects/initiatives.
- Chair regular meetings for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure milestones, SLA’s and KPI’s are achieved.
- Proactively drives continuous improvement within the IMS group. Identifies potential process improvements and communicates recommendations as well as implementation plans to management.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Proven Client Service skills
- Excellent project management and leadership skills.
- Must be a problem solver. The individual should be able to confidently tackle unfamiliar challenges and tasks.
- Proven ability to work on their own initiative to meet deadline/milestones.
- Strong knowledge of market instruments: Bonds; Equities; FFX; Pooled Funds/Unit Trusts; Derivatives (desirable)
- Extensive communication skills ,dealings with all management levels.
- Effective numeric skills and analytical communication (verbal and written)
- Proficient in the use of standard Microsoft tools and ability to learn systems used within the business
- Ability to meet challenging deadlines whilst working on multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong client focus gained in a financial services company
