Role/ Department:

This role is a specialist opportunity within the GFS Risk & Reg Mgt Office, reporting directly to the Regional Head of Office.

Office is responsible for the design and operation of GFS governance and oversight framework, covering regulatory, risk and resilience matters across in scope business functions including Fund Administration, Middle Office, Depositary, and Ancillary services, with connectivity to business services (Derivatives, Collateral) and custody operations. The scope of the Office is inclusive of all functional and GFS owned Legal Entity accountabilities.

The purpose of this independent Office is to provide centralised management and engagement of NT corporate risk and regulatory themes, translation of regulator and corporate regimes and frameworks (determining applicability to fund services business activities), and proactive direction and oversight of delivery, embeddedness and ongoing monitoring activities. This is a critical part of the fund services risk management and involves interaction with C suite stakeholders both internally and key client facing.

The role holder is likely to be a multi-disciplinary expert with substantial knowledge of applicable risk and regulatory regimes, ability to read and interpret complex regulations, technical fund services business and industry knowledge, and significant experience managing executive suite stakeholder engagement and influence.

Major Duties - Resilience and Outsourcing Management - support the dedicated oversight of operational resilience and outsourcing risk management regulatory accountabilities, including:

  • Support operation of GFS framework for adherence to resilience and outsourcing regulatory themes, aligned with NT policy and direction – providing the centralised GFS response to (and working closely with) NT 1LOD functions (including Asset Servicing Resilience Office, Control, Outsourcing Office, TPMO) and the 2LOD (Risk, GBCRS).
  • Supporting independent identification and oversight of resilience issues and / or vulnerabilities, via operating a framework of value chain and critical dependency mapping, resilience testing and monitoring of key resilience indicators including production oversight, recoverability and scalability, and forward looking triggers for change
  • Supporting GFS clients in their obligations under the resilience regulations, including provision of information and guidance as to NT IBS resilience and support to collaborative stress testing
  • Support the regional view for key RCSA’s, including testing and control ownership.
  • Operating a robust technical oversight, review and challenge process covering; change, issues, escalations, assurance activities and operational risks
  • Driving partner training and awareness of relevant oversight requirements, policies and procedures, and cultural embeddedness across the business
  • Operating a robust review and challenge process around outsourcing lifecycle activities, including risk management of new intercompany and vendor arrangements, operational risk exposure, GFS Outsourcing Register, ensuring timely completion of periodic vendor and intercompany due diligence reviews
  • Supporting the GFS governance framework, including operating the GFS Outsourcing and Resilience Council
  • Produce periodic legal entity reporting and management reporting and information pertaining to the status of in scope activities risk, regulatory and resilience key risk indicators and tracking

Experience / Knowledge:

  • Significant experience in Fund Services admin, banking and / or asset management
  • Thorough understanding of key risks and regulatory obligations for key in scope product; Transfer Agency / Fund Accounting / Investment Operations Outsourcing / Financial Reporting
  • Experience with key Important Business Services
  • Understanding of broad compliance themes applicable to fund services
  • Experience working with critical regulatory frameworks including Operational Resilience, Outsource Risk Management, Compliance Oversight
  • Experience operating in an oversight / challenge based role
  • Experience managing and influencing senior exec stakeholders and business unit owners
  • Highly flexible and adaptable to change, self starter
  • Demonstrated leadership, planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to present confidently to legal entity governance bodies and executives while avoiding ambiguity
