Make an impact with our Assurance Professional Standards - Technical Services team as a Senior Accountant. This diverse team of professionals provides best-in-class industry and technical expertise to internally drive the success of our Assurance and Accounting practice. As a trusted advisor, you’ll advise and assist team members on Canadian securities legislation matters and disclosure obligations.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside managers and Partners to deliver industry and technical expertise on a variety of technical assurance and accounting matters
  • Promote the importance of quality control in all Assurance and Accounting engagements and play a role in driving our quality initiatives
  • Research and respond to accounting queries under IFRS and US GAAP
  • Maintain knowledge of changes in the profession through research and by attending relevant industry events and training/information sessions
  • Support the development and maintenance of our accounting and assurance tools and protocols
  • Assist with the development of accounting and assurance related training in MNP’s extensive in-house education programs; Opportunity to facilitate learning and development programs for Assurance and Accounting engagement team members
  • Prepare and review high-quality deliverables, including written reports, presentations, correspondence, and other technical material and
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve our work processes

Skills and Experience

  • Completion of a CPA designation
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of recent accounting and assurance related experience at a public accounting firm
  • Knowledge and experience of IFRS accounting standards for public companies and US GAAP
  • Strong technical writing and project management skills, and an understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles
  • The following would be considered an asset:
    • Knowledge of CAS and US auditing and assurance/PCAOB auditing standards and experience with securities filings in Canada and the US
    • General knowledge and experience with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE), Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) or Accounting Standards for Not-For Profit Organizations (ASNPO)
    • French language proficiency
