Independence Office mission in Deloitte Belgium is to protect Deloitte’s Independence by enabling the Belgian Firm and its Belgian professionals to comply with the complex regulatory environment to avoid (or mitigate) potential threats to independence and hence prevent regulatory sanctions and reputational damage from independence breaches

As Independence Officer in the “Quality, Risk and Regulatory” (Independence Unit) you are responsible for an exciting wide range of risk, compliance, controls and organizational responsibilities and tasks such as but not limited to:

  • Managing and/or contributing to independence office functions related to personal, firm and other independence compliance matters;
  • Managing and/or contributing to variety of projects’ activities related to Quality, Risk and Regulatory compliance or systems;
  • Managing and perform data crunching exercises on large Deloitte client/ relationship database set in Excel / other applications, to perform the assigned tasks;
  • Proven track record in using tools as (such as SAP, ServiceNow, Intranet, other systems…) as well as in researching public source of data such as Google, Belgian Gazette (KBO..);
  • Collecting information related to entity relationships from our systems, and updating the records in our systems as required;
  • Preparing and managing the request for information to/from Deloitte international network and following up on the replies;
  • Participating in managing the performance of conflict check activities and keeping the related records up to date in our systems ;
  • Performing analysis and provide proposal and input to a comprehensive overview of the findings that will allow further compliance analysis;
  • Supporting monitoring and testing activities;
  • Assisting in any other independence administrative related activities.

Let's talk about you

  • You have at least Bachelor degree, preferably Master degree, in Business/Finance/Economics or other academic areas with a strong Data Minded and Data Analytic background;
  • You have excellent practical knowledge of using Excel, very good knowledge of MS Office Teams, OneDrive, PowerPoint, Outlook;
  • You have fluent communication skills, both written and spoken, in English and Dutch or French, and good communication skills in the other Belgium national language;
  • You have relevant independence, risk/compliance or audit/assurance experience in a professional services firm or regulatory/financial environment (e.g. banks);
  • You have excellent project management skills and able to collaborate with divers & international team members;
  • You are solution driven and client minded, able to communicate clearly and efficiently and know how to choose different communication platforms for different objectives and adapt to the client’s needs;
  • You have a critical mindset, structured & organized, with eye for the details analytically and synthetically;
  • You are a team player and pro-active, willing to perform flexible working hours and when needed/required work in Deloitte Offices;
  • Your reliability, co-operation and respect for others, and their privacy, make sure you can build good relationships with your stakeholders;
  • You have some systems knowledge such as SAP, Client database and billing / accounting systems;
  • You preferably have had internship in a client facing areas such as in audit/assurance/risk advisory.
