The focus of this role is to ensure the production of periodic financial reports, quarterly forecasts, annual budgets and business plan.

Client Details

You will be working as a Management Accountant for a public sector organisation based in Central London.

Description

The key duties of this role are as followed:

  • To support the Finance team in providing internal and external reporting.
  • To support management in sustaining financial control, strategic decision making and driving profitability through the provision of accurate, timely and interactive information.
  • With the budget holders, manage the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and annual business plan. This will include reporting to RfL and parent companies as required.
  • Preparation of accurate and timely internal periodic reporting with succinct variance analysis to forecast and budget. This will include reporting to RfL and parent companies as required.
  • Overseeing the processing of all accruals and provisioning in the accounts.
  • Liaise with the Project team to ensure that project costs and Milestone Payments from RfL are correctly accounted for.
  • Provision of robust cost information at a station level to facilitate the agreement of station access agreements.
  • Supporting the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis with the preparation of annual statutory accounts and liaison with external and internal auditors.
  • Preparation of the Finance Policies and Procedures Manual for the Management Accounting sections and ensure it is kept up to date following any change in processes.
  • Deputise during absence of Senior Management Accountant and provide cover in the Management Accounts team as required.
  • Ensure continuous development of process and practices e.g. improvement of systems, analysis, reports etc.
  • Promote building of the team's commercial knowledge and awareness through business partnering with the respective directorates.
  • Supporting the Senior Management Accountant in the preparation of other ad-hoc reports for other funding agents and organisations as required.
  • Other ad hoc activities as directed by Management.

Profile

To be sucessful in this role you will have the following:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the public sector
  • An accounting qualification or should be working towards a qualification
    (ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
  • Good communication and presentation skills to ensure that other senior managers and Directors are kept well informed of appropriate financial matters and that their contribution and buy in to financial processes and procedures is secured
  • Commercially aware and able to fully understand the financial implications of the contractual environment including the Concession Agreement, Track Access Agreements, Rolling Stock leases, Facilities Management and Train Maintenance Agreements
  • Proficient in Excel and financial reporting packages

Job Offer

You will be offered an initial 3 month contract with potential extension.
