The role is for a Risk Management Consultant/ Senior Consultant, based in London. The individual will work within the global Risk team, focused on supporting the successful EMEA and APAC Asset Management business and reporting to the International Chief Risk Officer. The role offers excellent exposure to someone looking to develop their career in asset management through a risk management role, or to broaden their risk management experience.

The individual will work within the team to provide consultation and advice on risk related matters whilst maintaining close working relationships with the key stakeholders across the business. This role will act as a lead local contact for Non-Financial Risk, and work as part of the broader global NTAM Risk team.

The Key Responsibilities of the Role Include:

  • Coordinate with and influence BAU/functional teams (Investments, Product, Operations etc) within the 1LoD on risk considerations and developments.
  • Provide and support advisory services on risk matters and work proactively with business contacts and management to identify and implement effective and efficient solutions, e.g. new products and initiatives.
  • Perform independent loss event investigations and lessons learnt analysis, document findings in accordance with operational risk management standards.
  • Review, disseminate, and interpret risk management policies, frameworks and procedures. Work to proactively establish and document related policies, procedures and standards within the parameters of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Independently analyze business change activities to ensure risks are identified and aligned with risk appetite.
  • Provide independent challenge for technology related risk items. This includes technology/digital development initiatives, cloud technology, cyber events, data loss and disaster recovery.
  • Develop and produce non-financial risk focused reporting to feed into the local and global governance committees.
  • Participate in committees and present to senior management as appropriate.
  • Support the Global Chief Risk Officer when liaising with regulators, governance specialists and auditors.
  • Improve team processes and efficiency through the use of automation and technology.

Skills/ Experience Required:

  • Detailed knowledge of financial services and risk management theory.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to identify problems, develop and communicate strategic solutions.
  • Ability to quantitatively measure and assess risks.
  • Compelling written and verbal communicator, with the ability to adjust communication style to audience need when explaining complex situations.
  • Experience and technical competency in data reporting, analysis and automation tools such as PowerBI, Power Automate, Python and Microsoft Excel.
  • A global outlook with sensitivity and awareness of social and cultural differences.
  • A College/ University degree in an analytical subject, or relevant professional qualification
  • Several years in a risk focused role, or an asset management role.
