The opportunity
EY’s Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) teams support clients in determining, monitoring and disclosing financial and nonfinancial insights for their stakeholders. FAAS addresses the CFO’s agenda and provides CFOs, controllers, treasurers and audit committees with insights and services to support compliance with evolving financial requirements and help provide transparency and trust in reporting to support better decision-making. We also help to support finance functions with robust financial data analytics and innovation through our tools.
We are currently seeking a professional with experience in insurance industry to join the team in the role of Manager. In FAAS we work with our clients’ finance teams and wider organization to provide practical, hands-on support and solutions relating to accounting, financial reporting and financial control in times of change or challenge. As a FAAS professional you will have a great opportunity to participate in IFRS 17/9 implementation engagements in large insurance companies and expand your technical accounting and financial reporting knowledge and skills. You will also have the chance to work on different projects and co-operate with other service lines. Your key responsibilities
The nature of this role means no two projects will be the same. You will provide accounting advisory services encompassing support in the application of new Standards (IFRS 17 and IFRS 9), amendments in IFRSs and complex accounting matters; improvement of accounting and financial reporting processes such as acceleration of financial closing process and other finance transformation projects; on call financial reporting advice; support in financial reporting activities; support in the re-design of control framework in financial reporting and accounting; support EY’s insurance audit teams in complex accounting matters. That means you need to think outside the box, be creative and solutions oriented, challenge existing practices and be adaptable to change. As you build your knowledge and experience, you will become a credible advisor, influencing clients and engagement teams on resolutions that will impact entire industries.

- Collaborating effectively with Managers, Senior Managers and Partners at the planning, execution and wrap-up stages of FAAS engagements

To qualify for the role, you must have
- At least 4 years of working experience in audit/consulting firm or a financial accounting/reporting role within an insurance company.
- Excellent academic background including a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or any quantitative degree.
- Professional accountancy qualification or working towards gaining one (ACCA, ACA, CFA, SOEL)
- Very good IFRS knowledge, strong technical skills, ability to research IFRS technical issues and risk management ability
- Professional acumen in analyzing complex accounting issues and providing solutions in accordance with the relevant accounting standards and legislation
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Excellent written and verbal communication in Greek and English
- Flexibility to travel in accordance with client and other job requirements both locally and internationally.
Ideally you will also have
- Knowledge in IFRS 17 and IFRS 9
- Experience in finance transformation projects
- Experience in the design or review of financial statements closing process
