JOB SUMMARY

  • This role will support the Head of FFG Finance in ensuring robust and effective cost and benefit management in support of the Group’s overall transformation agenda. 
  • The successful candidate will be a trusted partner to the Head of FFG Finance and work hand in hand with the finance organization and respective leaders within each of the functional areas, to drive the FFG agenda

RESPONSIBILITIES

Performance Management and Decision Support

  • Spearhead and oversight of key initiatives across various functional areas to drive simplification, centralization and standardization activities.
  • Drive the validation of sustainable saves initiatives including review of business case and assessment of impact to P&L, benefits quantification in sufficient detail to enable effective benefits tracking and realization.  
  • Provide additional support across finance activities relating to cost management, including insightful analysis, highlighting trends, outliers and areas of optimization across the cost portfolio.
  • Drive the delivery of the strategic benefits management platform transforming how benefits are tracked and reported at a Programme and Group level.
  • Facilitate workshops to identify, quantify and solicit buy-in on cross functional opportunities, delivering a one-bank approach. 
  • Track relevant KPIs and drive regular performance reviews to track progress on delivery of cost initiatives across the portfolio. 
  • Conceptualize and deliver high impact, executive-ready presentations to support the financial narrative of cost initiatives for engagement across the Group.  

Financial Control

  • Facilitate a robust funding governance process to support bank wide prioritisation to determine how best to allocate finite resources to drive the greatest return at bank level.  
  • Enable robust costing and business case quantification to support management decision making.
  • Introduce and implement new controls and process changes required to support FFG
  • Support independent review and assurance of cost saves including verification and documentation and ensure both cost savings and investment are properly and consistently accounted for across the bank.  
  • Conduct regular review and refinement of the policy as well as standardization, and consistent application of these standards. 
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements and management reporting and policies.

Risk Management

  • Ability to interpret the firm’s financial information, identify key issues based on this information and put in place appropriate controls and measures.
  • Ensure compliance with Group Accounting Principles and practices, Financial Control policy, and other regulatory accounting guidelines.

  • Have an awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Finance experience of 10+ years, with specialization in Cost Management / Cost Transformation.
  • Proven track record delivering cost efficiencies and productivity.
  • Extensive senior stakeholder experience in a global, highly matrix organization, preferably Banking. 
  • Strong familiarity with the bank’s financial systems and control frameworks
  • Academic or Professional Education/Qualifications: 
  • University educated
  • Qualified Accountant i.e. CPA, CMA, ACCA.

  • Exceptional stakeholder management capabilities, with the ability to build trust and creditability with senior stakeholders. 
  • Strong analytical skills, using advanced quantitative techniques and modelling tools, with ability to conceptualize and develop proof of concept frameworks, scenario analysis and business cases.
  • Ability to independently, in a fast-paced environment, under tight deadlines with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strategic thinking with commercial acumen and independent thought. 
  • Knowledge of cost recharge frameworks and familiarity with unit pricing models.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with gravitas and executive presence.
  • Strong awareness of the external and internal business environment and competitor landscape. 
  • High integrity, with a strong sense of independence and accountability.
  • Innovative and resourceful – ability to adopt new methodologies and navigate the network to resolve business issues, manage risks and complexities.
  • Inquisitive, self-starter with a ‘can-do’ and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Team player who facilitates the sharing of knowledge, and work collaboratively in the team.
  • Familiarity of Standard Chartered Bank Finance systems and processes.
  • Proficient in MS Tools (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Microsoft Tools
