An opportunity exists for an Officer position working in a challenging environment within the OTC derivatives department. Reporting to a team AVP/VP, this represents a good opportunity to develop and lead an operations team within a deadline driven setting.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring team compliance with operating policies, procedures, and guidelines within the derivatives model. In addition, the role involves team development, staff management, and enhancing the operating environment.

What you will be responsible for
As Officer, you will
- Manage a function within the derivatives group, monitoring the workflow to ensure the team is operating efficiently. Plan and manage the daily operations and staffing needs
- Ensure the team carries out derivatives tasks in accordance with established procedures with accuracy and timeliness
- Take ownership and resolution of queries with internal teams, clients, vendors, counterparties, etc.
- Be accountable for all aspects of resource planning; including succession planning, staff development, and participate in the recruitment process
- Review and refine the operational process; drive the implementation of operational efficiencies and re-engineering initiatives
- Manage new business transitions or business migration activities and ensure proper implementation within the team
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, other departments, brokers, and service providers; foster this culture within the team
- Identify risk issues and act in accordance with the 'risk' escalation chain and operating procedures.
- Act in accordance with Risk Excellence standards
- Foster an environment of learning and teamwork
- Actively participate in the corporate, systems, internal, and statutory audit to resolve the audit queries
- Communicate and lead department goals and performance targets
- Assist with calls, forums, presentations etc on derivatives, where required
Education & Preferred Qualifications
- Primary Degree or a Professional Accounting qualification or equivalent
- 5 years+ related financial industry experience, part of which must be in management or supervisory capacity
- Knowledge of OTC derivatives is required
- Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, planning, and analytical skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize under tight deadlines
- Demonstrated experience in identifying and resolving OTD derivative issues; ability to provide technical expertise
- Highly computer literate with working knowledge of MS Office
- Ability to develop business relationships within and outside of organization
- Excellent leadership and motivational skills
