Position Overview:

The Finance and Strategy Manager plays a crucial role in integrating financial planning with strategic business initiatives. This individual is responsible for driving business performance by aligning financial goals with long-term strategic objectives. They will work closely with senior leadership to provide actionable insights, develop financial strategies, and ensure that the company’s resources are being used efficiently to support growth and profitability. The Finance and Strategy Manager will also lead efforts to assess new business opportunities, manage risk, and support the development of financial plans that complement the company’s overall business strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Execution:

  • Develop and execute strategic plans by collaborating with senior management to align business operations with the organization’s long-term goals.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor performance to guide the company’s strategic positioning and identify new business opportunities.
  • Provide strategic recommendations based on data-driven insights, considering both financial and operational factors.
  • Oversee strategic projects by managing resources, timelines, and budgets, ensuring alignment with company goals.

Financial Management and Analysis:

  • Prepare financial forecasts and budgets to guide strategic decision-making, ensuring they are aligned with the company's objectives.
  • Perform financial analysis to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and evaluate the financial impact of strategic initiatives.
  • Evaluate investments and business opportunities, conducting cost-benefit analysis and risk assessments to support strategic investments.
  • Provide financial leadership in cost control, profitability improvement, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor financial performance and recommend adjustments to optimize outcomes and ensure strategic goals are met.

Business Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Monitor financial performance against strategic goals, identifying variances and proposing corrective actions as needed.
  • Develop financial reports for senior leadership and stakeholders, communicating financial insights and strategic recommendations clearly.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports on financial performance, budgeting, and forecasting for both internal and external stakeholders.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work with department heads to ensure financial and strategic alignment across all areas of the business, including operations, marketing, HR, and sales.
  • Collaborate with the finance team on financial modeling, budgeting, and scenario planning for strategic initiatives.
  • Partner with executive leadership to identify and prioritize key strategic projects, ensuring they align with the company’s financial goals.

Risk Management:

  • Assess and manage financial risks related to business strategy and market conditions, ensuring the company’s growth strategies are sustainable.
  • Develop contingency plans to mitigate financial or operational risks that could impact the business’s strategic objectives.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay informed on industry trends and best practices in financial management and strategic planning, applying them to improve the company’s operations and profitability.
  • Contribute to process improvements and operational efficiency within the finance department and across the organization.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Chartered Accountant (CA), ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), or equivalent professional qualification in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Relevant professional certifications and/or qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in financial management, strategy development, or business analysis.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, financial forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Experience with financial modeling, risk management, and business performance analysis.
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration, preferably with senior leadership teams.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of financial principles, corporate finance, and business strategy.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret complex data into actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and tools (Excel, financial planning software, ERP systems).
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial and strategic information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving ability and strategic thinking with a focus on long-term business growth.
