The work area

This role sits within the Corporate Strategy and Performance Directorate which is part of the Advisory Services business unit. The Finance team is a small, enthusiastic team that works in partnership with business areas to drive solutions and initiatives that ensure Treasury operates in a manner that is efficient and sustainable, whilst achieving the agency’s objectives. This includes:

  • the preparation of financial information to facilitate and discharge of statutory reporting obligations including Budget Papers and Financial Statements;
  • the provision of advice on the effectiveness of financial, budget management and financial controls in meeting the requirements of the agency;
  • Provision of guidance on financial and governance risks to the agency’s current and projected services; and
  • the provision of oversight, advice and support of the Treasury’s procurement function.

This is a diverse finance role, presenting an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified accountant to contribute towards great outcomes for Treasury.  The successful applicant will have the opportunity to drive improvements to finance processes, increase the use of contemporary technologies across the agency and challenge our thinking as our finance function continues to evolve along with Treasury.

The role is responsible to the and deputises the Chief Finance Officer by contributing to the leadership and guiding and coaching team members, planning and managing the Finance team, ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of financial and management accounting and statutory reporting for the Department. This includes providing expert financial management advice to the Chief Financial Officer and both internal and external stakeholders.

Our ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge across a range of areas including annual financial reporting, accounting standards and financial policy, financial controls, budgeting, management reporting and procurement, and project accounting.  You will have experience in developing and implementing governance frameworks, policies and procedures, demonstrated ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships, and demonstrated ability to provide mentoring, coaching and supervision to team members.

Interviews are likely to be held in the week commencing the 9 December 2024.
