About the Role:
The role holder is responsible for managing the fixed asset function for all the Client Group SBUs / affiliates, which includes creating the AFE (Authorization for Expenditure) Accounts, performing CWIP review, closing the AFE account and adding the asset to fixed asset module, conducting transfer of fixed assets, conducting fixed asset physical audit, disposing fixed assets, performing lease accounting and reviewing site decommissioning and rehabilitation provisions accurately and timely in line with established policies and standard operating procedures. The responsibility also includes reviewing Fixed Asset reports / registers as necessary to ensure accuracy as well as ensuring development of Fixed Asset strategy, business plan and budget as per the defined processes and procedures.
Responsibilities :
- Review and approve the AFE forms submitted by Proponent, in case of issues raised by Finance Manager / CFO
- Provide support and guidance to the Finance Manager / CFO in conducting review of the identified changes to the CWIP treatment, prior to sending for final approval by Management
- Ensure that all the fixed assets are tagged appropriately as per the company policy and guidelines
- Provide support and guidance to the Finance Manager / CFO in reviewing the variance report created by the fixed asset accountant and recommending corrective actions to resolve the identified variance
- Review the final report of variance between fixed asset register and physical audit before it is shared with Internal Audit
- Provide support and guidance to the Finance Manager / CFO in conducting review of the appropriate interest / discount rate for the financial leases and site decommissioning and rehabilitation provisions
- Provide support and guidance to the Finance Manager / CFO in conducting review of the identified changes to the site decommissioning and rehabilitation provisions, prior to sending for final approval by Management
- Develop and obtain approval for overall Fixed Asset function’s Strategy and Business Plan as per Client Group Shared Services Strategy and Business Plan process
- Develop and obtain approval for overall Fixed Asset function’s budget as per Client Group Shared Services budgeting process, based on the inputs from Finance Manager / CFO
- Monitor overall expenses against approved budget and investigate / justify significant variances Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems, policies and procedures related to Fixed Asset to ensure adherence to company guidelines
- Oversee preparation of Fixed Asset related reports to management, auditors, etc.
- Ensure that the requirements of internal and external auditors are met, in coordination with the Audit Engagement Advisor
- Ensure that the Fixed Asset related issues raised through an internal or external audit are resolved timely, in coordination with the Audit Engagement Advisor
- Monitor existing accounting policies, procedures and systems and lead development and implementation of new systems, policies, and procedures to meet changing requirements (e.g. compliance with IFRS regulations) and future needs of the business
- Manage periodic closing of Fixed Asset related financial records (Fixed Asset sub-ledger) and periodic posting of information at a frequency defined in policy documents
- Provide accounting assistance to project managers and operations staff and respond to financial questions / concerns to meet business needs, in case the requirements cannot be met by Manager / Section Head and / or Accountants
- Resolve any issues escalated by Manager / Section Head of SBUs / affiliates regarding fulfilment of specific business needs
Qualifications - Education details
- Bachelor level degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent from an internationally recognized institution
- At least 7 years of relevant experience in Fixed Asset, with at least 2 – 3 years of leadership experience
- Experience with IFRS Experience with large Finance & S4/H
Preferred Skills -
- Master’s degree is preferred
- Professional Certification: CMA, CPA, ACCA, ACA, CA, CFA or equivalent preferred
- Strong personal computer and business solutions software skills (e.g., MS Office, MS Excel, MS Word)
- Strong managerial and interpersonal skills for interacting with accountants, clients, and upper management
- Good communication skills for communicating with support personnel and management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
