Role/ Department:
As Depositary Manager you will be responsible for the Guernsey Depositary and Trustee Oversight Team providing technical support and leadership to the team, ensuring that Northern Trust fulfils its oversight responsibilities under both the Alternative Investment Fund Management Directive (AIFMD) and local Guernsey regulations.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
- A varied role involving monitoring and oversight support to a variety of fund structures, legal entities and alternative investment vehicles; Ensuring fund compliance with regulations and constitutional documentation;
- Communicating and collaborating with internal and external clients at both operational and board levels including producing reporting, answering related queries and attendance at board/committee meetings;
- Trust oversight and operational coordination, reviewing transactional documentation, liaising with lawyers and arranging meetings to discuss acquisitions, sales and ad-hoc queries;
- Responsible for the oversight of outsourced locations and fund delegates reviewing due diligence questionnaires and performing due diligence visits as appropriate;
- Reviewing alternative investments and look-through requirements;
- Analysing current processes to identify areas for efficiencies and automation;
- Leading/Involvement in change management projects and processes as required;
- Coordinating workloads, identifying and addressing service issues, ensuring timely escalation through the appropriate channels;
- Responsibility for the management of the team, including conducting performance management and career development discussions.
- To deputise for the Head of Depositary and Trustee Oversight in their absence, acting as an authorised signatory at Class 1 level for both NTGL and associated nominee companies.
Skills/ Qualifications:
The successful candidate will benefit from having:
- Proven track record with 5+ years’ experience within financial services industry - Depositary, custody, trustee, private equity, administration or investment management
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with internal and external parties including a track record of communicating at client/board level;
- Knowledge of Guernsey fund regulations, and the AIFMD
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively within a team environment both in-person and cross jurisdictional;
- Previous experience of people management
- Analytical approach and the ability to drive change through initiative and collaboration
- Holding or working towards financial services qualification preferable– ACCA, ICSA or other finance related
