This role is to support the accurate and effective financial management, statutory accounting, and regulatory reporting for multiple financial services entities based in Hong Kong. This role involves building strong partnerships with business units and functions to deliver enhanced management information, provide actionable analytics, and contribute to new business initiatives, helping business leaders achieve their financial and strategic objectives.

Description

  • Change Management & Impact Analysis:

    • Lead the analysis of regulatory ratios and reporting requirements impacted by business changes and new initiatives.
    • Provide detailed impact assessments for various business scenarios and ensure accounting and reporting processes are adapted accordingly.
    • Drive change management for regulatory and financial reporting processes, supporting new business initiatives.
    • Contribute to functional specifications and participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) for finance-related projects and system enhancements.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Reporting:

    • Assist in ensuring compliance with Hong Kong's regulatory requirements, specifically in preparing and submitting regulatory returns to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and the Securities & Futures Commission (SFC).
    • Monitor daily internal regulatory limits and ensure timely reporting and compliance with internal controls.
    • Maintain strong professional relationships with regulatory bodies, addressing queries and requests as needed.
    • Interpret new regulatory rules and assess their impact on the business, reporting authorities, and financial statements.
  • Financial and Regulatory Reporting Support:

    • Support the regulatory reporting function to ensure statutory compliance with local regulations and internal controls.
    • Conduct risk assessments related to new business initiatives and their impact on regulatory reporting.
    • Drive the implementation of automated solutions for regulatory reporting, enhancing efficiency and accuracy in reporting tools.
    • Collaborate with project teams to provide input on user requirements, functional specifications, and system enhancements to improve regulatory reporting processes.
  • Stakeholder Management & Business Partnerships:

    • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders across Hong Kong's finance functions, including Capital Markets (CM), Investment Services (IS HK), and Wealth Management (WM).
    • Provide enhanced management information and analytics to assist business leaders in making informed decisions that align with strategic financial objectives.
    • Provide value-added input on business initiatives and project approval requests, with a particular focus on capital impacts and regulatory considerations.
  • Team Leadership & Support:

    • Assist the team lead in supervising, training, and providing support to the regulatory and accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory standards.
    • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment, ensuring knowledge sharing and continuous development of team members.

Profile

  • Degree in Commerce, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in a financial institution or with a Big 4 accounting firm.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience with HKMA Returns for Capital Markets Businesses.
  • Experience working within a Capital Markets division or Bank Finance Department.
  • Familiarity with HKMA and SFC Returns reporting, with practical knowledge of regulatory compliance and reporting requirements in Hong Kong.
