Job Overview:
We are looking for a candidate who is seeking a challenge and an opportunity to be a transformational Leader
We are a Credit Union with an active membership of twenty-five hundred and a twenty-seven-million-dollar asset base.
We are seeking a strategically minded Manager/Accountant to serve as a key advisor to the Board of Directors, contributing insights and recommendations in the rebuilding of our credit union.
Key Strategic Areas will include: Financial Performance, Growth Strategies, and Exploring and Capitalizing on market opportunities.
In this role, you will lead a small and lean team, in achieving operational and customer excellence, overseeing all financial functions, and ensuring regulatory compliance. With a focus on driving strategic growth and optimizing financial performance, you will play a pivotal role in aligning financial objectives with our mission and long-term goals.
Key Responsibilities:
* Advise and report to the Board of Directors on financial health, performance metrics, strategic initiatives, and emerging market opportunities.
* Oversee the key functions of the Credit Union including credit, investments, operations and the performance of the management team.
* Oversee preparation of the annual budget no later than July 31 of each year, and include budget analysis in the monthly financial reporting.
* Lead the accounting and finance function, ensuring alignment with our strategic priorities and organizational values.
* Oversee daily financial operations, including collections, payments, budgeting, expenditure control, forecasting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
* Leverage marketing strategies to promote our credit union's services, enhance our market presence, and align offerings with member needs.
* Develop and execute financial strategies to optimize organizational performance and enhance operational efficiency.
* Ensure financial accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards, supporting transparency and integrity across financial reporting.
* Mentor and empower team members, fostering a culture of integrity, excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Management, Accounting, Finance, or a related field;
* A Master's degree will be considered an asset.
* Professional certification such as ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) or equivalent is preferred.
* Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in a financial institution, credit union, or similar setting.
* Strong understanding of accounting principles, budgeting, financial reporting, and forecasting.
* Demonstrated success in leading teams in marketing financial services within a financial environment.
Skills and Competencies:
* A good understanding of credit unions/co-operatives philosophy, industry and the Co-operative Society's Act.
* Effective leadership and team-building skills with a high level of integrity and accountability.
* Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with an ability to drive growth and innovate.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively at all levels of the organization.
* Proven ability to think critically, make data-driven decisions, and solve problems effectively in a dynamic environment.
