Job title: Assistant Manager - Accounting
Role Location: Jersey

Apex is looking for an Assistant Manager to join a growing team providing a full suite of fund accounting and financial reporting services to our Private Equity fund clients with complex and varied fund structures. The role involves all aspects of accounting services to portfolio of clients, including but not limited to, financial review and NAV reporting.

The Role & Key Responsibilities
  • Leading client relationships from an accounting perspective and be the primary point of contact for all accounting queries
  • Providing day-to-day fund accounting and financial reporting services to a portfolio of Private Equity clients and structures, ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures
  • Ensuring that all day-to-day matters required to be completed are performed in a timely and satisfactory manner, particularly controlling and monitoring of the bookkeeping processes and taking ownership of assigned clients' ledgers
  • Preparing and/or reviewing of management accounts and financial statements in compliance with GAAP (UK GAAP and IFRS)
  • Preparing and/or reviewing of NAV calculations, capital call workings and distribution workings of the funds, as well as, overseeing the preparation of carried interest and other calculations in accordance with the fund documentations
  • Acting as first line reviewer of routine and non-routine accounting deliverables (i.e., management and statutory accounts, NAV calculations, call/distribution workings, etc.)
  • Working closely with the Private Equity Funds administration team and clients to ensure that accounting records are accurate and transactions and activity within the portfolio are understood and incorporated into the accounting ledgers as appropriate
  • Assisting in the preparation and review of periodic direct and indirect tax returns and liaise with tax advisers
  • Attending board meetings to present financial information, as necessary
  • Supporting the audit process to ensure the completion of milestones and deadlines
  • Manage and supervise junior team members, including coaching, mentoring, goal setting and periodic appraisals
  • Recording time accurately
  • Performing other duties to support the Manager and team as may be necessary from time-to-time
Skills Required
  • Hold a professional ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA qualification or equivalent (but partly qualified candidates with funds experience considered)
  • Substantial Fund accounting experience preferably within Private Equity, Real Estate and/or Debt Funds in a professional service environment
  • Proficient in IFRS and UK GAAP
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to develop strong, effective working relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Excellent project management skills, including People management
  • Basic understanding of Jersey statutory laws and other related legal and regulatory requirements (i.e., anti-money laundering laws and regulations)
