PwC’s Tax services group, with U.S. tax professionals located in Bermuda and the Cayman Islands, focuses on a variety of key industry groups, including offshore investment funds and insurance companies. The PwC Bermuda Tax group has an exciting opportunity for a US Tax Senior Manager. As a Senior Manager in PwC Bermuda’s U.S. Tax Team, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, assisting businesses, individuals and organizations with tax strategy, planning and compliance, whilst delivering a wide range of business advisory services. This opportunity involves combining industry insight with the technical skills of financial and tax specialists, actuaries, lawyers and our other in-house experts as necessary, to develop comprehensive integrated solutions. You’ll advise clients on their local and overseas tax affairs, while acting as a strategic consultant related to their business including trading strategies and related tax impact and income / loss allocations to partners.Responsibilities:
Reporting to the tax partner, responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- The review of U.S. tax returns for investments partnerships and other U.S. tax filings;
- The supervision of U.S. tax professionals in conjunction with; Conducting U.S. tax research and drafting tax technical research memoranda; the preparation of presentation materials for the marketing of U.S tax services; and meeting with existing and potential clients to discuss tax issues;
- Proactively assisting with setting strategy, driving the development of new business, and providing technical advice across disciplines;
- Building strong networks within the firm to spot and capitalise on opportunities to get involved in projects that others are leading across a number of different business units and sectors across multiple tax jurisdictions;
- Identifying and discussing key issues with our clients to identify potential opportunities;
- Responsibility for a majority of day to day client communications and tax team operations;
- Responsibility to shape and deliver various projects that exceed the expectations of our clients and our own assignment quality criteria;
- Manage and deliver large projects by developing the project team, assessing engagement risks throughout, driving conclusions, and reviewing/challenging the output produced by the team;
- Responsibility for management of engagement financials; and
- Helping to grow and develop our team through hands-on training and coaching.
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. tax compliance and consulting needs of various investment funds including expertise in tax compliance softwares;
- Extensive technical skills relevant to the funds industry, along with thorough experience identifying and addressing client needs: developing and sustaining deep client relationships using networking, negotiation and persuasion skills to identify and sell potential new service opportunities; preparing and presenting complex written and verbal materials; and defining resource requirements, project workflow, budgets, billing and collection;
- Thorough experience as a team leader; leading teams to deliver, establish direction and motivate members, creating an atmosphere of trust, leveraging diverse views, coaching staff, and encouraging improvement and innovation; and
- Demonstrates a proven record of success as a tax technical team leader generating new business, proposal writing and delivery, collaborating across engagements and business units. Candidates should also possess the following skills:
- A minimum of 7 years U.S taxation work experience with an international accounting Firm or similar work experience specialising in U.S tax issues of partnerships and corporations;
- A Bachelors Degree with a specialisation in accounting/taxation or a law degree from an accredited university;
- Advanced knowledge of tax compliance software(s) and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
- Highly organized, dedicated and self-motivated;
- Excellent communications, interpersonal and time management skills; and
- Ability to coach and mentor more junior team members.
- A Bachelors Degree with a specialisation in accounting/taxation or a law degree from an accredited university; and
- Successful completion of Qualification as a U.S. Certified Public Accounting or IRS Enrolled Agent qualification preferred. Candidates without the aforementioned qualifications, who have relevant US Tax experience will also be considered.
- A minimum of 7 years U.S taxation work experience with an international accounting Firm or similar work experience specialising in U.S tax issues of partnerships and corporations
