The opportunity
EY’s Operating Model Effectiveness (OME) service and competency is led by its ITTS practice. OME is helping multinationals design, implement and sustain effective operating models by navigating the international business, technology, talent and legislative landscape and delivering performance improvement in a tax aligned way.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Tax professional to join a growing team in an emerging market. As an International Tax Senior Consultant in OME, your primary focus will be advising global companies on the various regional and international tax implications of their operations. Your key responsibilities
You will be managing the successful delivery of international tax engagements and assisting partners / directors with generating new business opportunities and building client networks and relationships. Your work would include:
- Performing research and analysis of business and tax related issues to develop and present reliable and useful insights for use by senior project team members.
- Working with large and complex client datasets to perform data sanitization, simplification and presentation for easy reference and manipulation by project teams for stated and unstated use on projects.
- Supporting routine project management activities such as weekly updates, committee materials, management of foreign teams and engagement administration.
- Performing value chain analysis and developing the appropriate frameworks to support project work.
- Developing advanced understanding of technologies available for use on projects, propose new and innovative ways of leveraging technologies to enhance productivity and engagement quality and efficiency.
The types of projects you’ll contribute towards may include:
- Centralization, hub and principal model planning.
- Supply chain network optimizations.
- New market-entry operating model designs.
- Pre-and-Post M&A operating model transformation / integration.
- Business model innovation and operating model design.
- Tax strategy and governance development.
- Design of operating models that manage permanent establishment, withholding tax, transfer pricing, irrecoverable indirect tax and customs / excise issues.
- Intellectual property strategies and planning.
You will be contributing to building and maintaining key client relationships by delivering exceptional client service and collaborate with multi-discipline teams of tax, strategy and consulting professionals across the MENA region and globally across a broad range of industries.
You will be expected to work as part of a multi-jurisdictional / disciplinary teams in terms of pursuing, managing and delivering engagements and assisting in managing engagement economics by organizing staffing, tracking fees and communicating issues to project leaders. You will build strong internal relationships within international tax team and across other service lines and you will counsel and develop more junior staff through delegation and on the job training.
You’ll proactively maintain your technical knowledge by keeping abreast of global developments in international tax landscape so that you can better advise our clients. Skills and attributes for success
If you are a client-centric, strategically and commercially aware professional who is an effective communicator in a range of situations, you will be perfect for the role.
To qualify for the role you must have
- Bachelor's Degree in Tax, Economics, Accounting or Finance.
- 3 to5 years of tax experience in an advisory capacity (e.g. not pure reporting or compliance).
- A broad knowledge of international tax concepts related to direct tax (transfer pricing, PE, IP, CFC and computation issues), indirect tax (domestic vs cross-border transactions) issues and tax-accounting concepts.
- Strong organisational, project management, analytical and verbal/written communication skills.
- Proven track record with a leading professional services firm.
Ideally, you’ll also have
- An approved professional qualification or equivalent (e.g. ADIT / ATT / ACCA / CPA / ACA / CA / LLB or MBA, or MA, MSc or PhD in fields listed above).
- Proficiency in Arabic, written and spoken.
- Experience in providing tax advisory from a professional services or consulting background.
- Prior experience in advising on operational model improvements in a taxation context.
