Job Description & Summary

A career in our Indirect Tax practice, within Tax services, will provide you with the opportunity to help our clients meet and manage their tax obligations across unique but ever changing tax specialties. You’ll advise clients on their local and overseas tax affairs, while acting as a strategic consultant related to business analysis, managing indirect taxes, dispute resolution, and global enterprise tax solutions.

Our team helps our clients optimise cash flow and reduce risk by managing challenges related to indirect taxes. You’ll support our clients with all aspects of indirect taxation related to global, regional and domestic projects as well as comprehensive restructuring and reporting value added tax projects.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Dealing with client financial data and processing into our in-house Indirect Tax Technologies;
  • Reviewing the client specific exception reports produced by the technology;
  • Managing high quality deliverables and contractual scope to ensure delivery against compliance obligations;
  • VAT technical review of draft returns and client specific exception reports;
  • Supporting clients with compliance, advisory, healthchecks/e-fitness, voluntary disclosures, refund requests, registration, and deregistration;
  • Support the ITX technology implementation in the Middle East;
  • Lead client implementations for Insource engagements;
  • ‘Go-to’ person for any automation/reconciliation requirements (internally or externally);
  • Support the regional implementation, testing of new releases, country content review and sign offs of the technology;
  • Manage setting up of Middle East specific tax exceptions / validations in the ITX technology;
  • Responsible for maintaining good relationships with clients;
  • Provide intelligent and creative solutions to client tax issues both reactively and proactively;
  • Working on client RFPs and proposals;
  • Conducting demos to prospective clients for insourcing and outsourcing of the ITX technology;
  • Communicate and coordinate with the global team for functional request updates and changes required in the technology for the region;
  • Manage and support clients with their tax requirements in the region;
  • Ensuring that invoices are issued and settled on time;
  • Keeping up to date with legislation and practical changes which impact VAT compliance;
  • Training of both senior and junior ITX team members including acceleration centres in the region;
  • Conducting demos to prospective clients for insourcing and outsourcing of the ITX technology;
  • Communicate and coordinate with the global team for functional request updates and changes required in the technology for the region;
  • Proactively suggest process improvements;

Essential skills and experience:

  • Accounting knowledge
  • Sound knowledge of ITX Edge
  • Onboarding experience from outsource and/or insource
  • Good VAT technical knowledge.
  • UAE VAT knowledge and experience preferred
  • Knowledge in automation and dashboarding tools (i.e., Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau)
  • ERP knowledge
  • Previous experience in a VAT related role.
  • Client facing experience (preferable) Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to develop less experienced team members to achieve excellence, best practice and optimised use of relevant tools and techniques
