Audit Intern 2025
Group Internal Audit (GIA) is an independent function supporting the Standard Chartered Board and Executive Management team. We do this by helping protect the Group's assets, reputation, and sustainability. GIA represents the Bank’s third line of defence, we also provide independent assurance on the effectiveness of the management control of business activities (the first line), and the control of processes maintained by risk frameworks and policy owners (the second line).
About the programmeOur 10-week Internship Programme gives you the opportunity to gain first-hand experience working on real-world problems, hone your skills, create lasting relationships, gain insights, and discover your strengths. Throughout the programme, you'll acquire the skills for immediate success, as well as understand what's required for the future as our industry and your career evolve. A strong performance on the programme could lead to a graduate job offer.
Through this immersive programme, you'll learn about our Group Internal Audit (GIA) team and the processes, people and roles. You’ll gain a thorough understanding of what a career within the GIA team could look like.
- A one-day orientation introduces you to the Bank and your fellow interns
- Four days of classroom instruction on our products, our business, and our bankers
- On-the-job training and technical seminars to support your learning
- Performance reviews and support of managers, mentors, and buddies
- Presentations by senior management (speaker series) and engagement with executive management
- Networking within the GIA business function and across other divisions
- Gain Working experience of Audit tools and Audit Methodologies

As an GIA Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in the field of internal auditing. You will work closely with the Internal Audit team to assess and enhance our internal controls, identify potential risks, and contribute to the overall improvement of our processes.
The Role Responsibilities- Audit Lifecycle: Collaborate and assist with team members to understand Audit Lifecycle and support the internal audit engagements. Contribute to the identification of key risks and controls.
- Documentation: Assist in documenting audit procedures, workpapers, and findings.
- Data Analysis: Work closely with the team to understand basic data analysis using tools like Excel.
- Assist in extracting meaningful insights that contribute to the audit process.
- Testing Procedures: Understand the testing procedures to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls.
- Information Gathering: Assist in gathering relevant information and documentation from various sources to facilitate the audit process.
- Communication Support: Assist in drafting reports and presentations for review by senior team members.

You need to be a penultimate year student, able to intern in June 2025 and start full-time employment in July 2026. You’ll have the permanent legal right to work in the country you’re applying to.
