Outsourcing Manager (or Assistant Manager) - Financial Services

About the team

Our financial outsourcing team provide an outstanding quality of work and service to our clients, ensuring accurate and timely bookkeeping, payables management, preparation of management accounts and VAT compliance.

Within financial outsourcing, the Financial Services market team specialise specifically on clients belonging to the Financial Services industry. Our clients are typically large and complex, based both in the UK and Internationally and cover a range of sectors including asset and investment management, insurance and FinTech.  

Outsourced accounting and outsourced bookkeeping are fast growing in popularity, and this is substantially down to the opportunity offered by technology and BPO (business process outsourcing) providers like us to transform the finance team.  Our cost-effective outsourcing solutions combine market-leading accounting technology and cloud applications with expert advisory services to drive continuous improvement.

About the role 

  • To manage a portfolio of locally based clients and ensure the provision of the highest quality outsourced finance function.
  • Maintaining excellent relations with clients, acting as the main point of contact, responding effectively to any queries in an advisory manner and resolving any issues.
  • Inspire, lead and coach the team to delivery excellent levels of client service, receive positive client feedback and minimise client complaints to zero.
  • Review the work produced by the team on a monthly/quarterly basis and ensure it is of the highest quality and that learning points for the team are actioned.
  • Drive gross margin profitability through streamlining and enhancement of processes on an on-going basis.
  • Reviewing and monitoring team timesheets to ensure they are accurate and reasonable, escalating if additional resources are required and reallocating work if needed.
  • Leading and controlling a regular programme of billing, recoverability, contract reviews and fee negotiations.
  • Supporting with business development activities and actively contributing to proposals.
  • Work with other departments (e.g. tax, audit, corporate finance and MFP) to ensure all of Forvis Mazars' services are strongly coordinated and selling opportunities identified.
  • Contribute to the wider National AOS initiatives and projects (people engagement, technology or quality).

What are we looking for?

  • ACCA or ACA (or equivalent) qualified with excellent practical management accounts preparation experience.
  • Experience of Financial Services clients across a range of industries like insurance, asset management, banking foreign exchange and others.
  • Experience of managing a team with an ability to inspire, lead and coach.
  • Experience of managing a portfolio of clients or deadline driven deliverables, including leading client calls and in person meetings
  • Experience of reviewing the work produced by the team on a monthly/quarterly basis and ensuring that learning points for the team are actioned.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel including the creation of advance formula and visualisation such as VLOOKUP, Pivot tables and SUMIF.
  • Strong technical bookkeeping knowledge, with an analytical approach and good attention to detail.
  • Thorough understanding of VAT reporting requirements, regulatory reporting requirements and financial reporting requirements/GAAP differences and changes.
