Role Summary
Based in our central London office near St Paul’s and building on recent successes and planned strategic growth, there is an exciting opportunity for high calibre and ambitious professionals to further their career with a progressive and growing consulting team. Currently, the practice is led by 2 partners, and comprises a team of around 30 within our wider 100+ partner and 1500+ staff UK firm.
You may have the skills and experience but do not want to be just another headcount in a large firm and you see the appeal in working as part of a relatively small but growing, dynamic team and want to play a key role in the growth and success of our UK consulting business.
It is the ideal role for someone who has already gained specialist risk management and associated skills and experience within the insurance sector and against a background of UK PRA/FCA regulations and Solvency II frameworks. The successful candidate will have a track record of success and be comfortable in taking responsibility to multi-task across a variety of client and internal initiatives and must think for themselves.
As a Senior Manager or experienced manager, you will play a key role across proposition development in your areas of expertise, client delivery, business development and marketing, and coaching people.
You will be focused on playing a key role in delivering high-quality consulting work to clients, typically with small to medium sized project teams covering a range of topics such as risk management frameworks reviews and supporting our clients’ efforts to enhance their risk management, (e.g. risk process, risk appetite, policy, ORSA, stress and scenario testing, model governance, operating model).
Providing excellent service to clients is fundamental to our business, so the individual needs to have a proven track record of delivery to senior stakeholders and be confident and influential in a range of situations with client’s management.
Key Objectives and Responsibilities
Client delivery
- Demonstrate consistent and exceptional analytical skills, pragmatism, stakeholder and client management skills.
- Take a leading role in the high-quality delivery of client engagements, including ownership and management of the quality of team outputs.
- Managing projects to budget, profitability, time and specification.
- Own and manage relationships with key clients, anticipating clients’ needs to drive opportunities for Crowe.
Proposition development
- Make a significant contribution to the development and definition of Crowe’s offering by using your knowledge and expertise to act as a subject matter expert and own the development of relevant propositions, which are aligned and supports the delivery of the consulting strategy.
- Develop a detailed understanding of other propositions and how they meet the needs of our clients.
- Detailed understanding of and ability to articulate what differentiates Crowe in the consulting market.
Business development and marketing
- Network, engage and manage relationships effectively with management at clients and potential clients to generate leads.
- Own, manage and deliver client proposals and business development activities.
- Full ownership and delivery of high-quality marketing and brand development initiatives, including thought leadership.
- Personally recognised as an expert in one of your areas of expertise.
People
- Role model the behaviours of a High Performing Team (trust, open debate, commitment and performance focus), holding each other accountable by calling out actions and behaviours that are inconsistent with the team’s values and culture.
- Lead, coach and develop effectively our Consulting team.
- Accountable for internal work, adopting a coaching mindset of leading while delivering high quality output (within time allocation, on time and to specification). In the context of a relatively small team, being prepared to “roll your sleeves up” and support and engage in delivery in order to achieve a positive outcome.
- Commercial accountability for team members’ time - demonstrating ability to manage and delegate work.
- Supporting a continuous improvement culture by identifying and delivering on opportunities to improve across the team.
Key Experience and Attributes
The successful candidate will have the following technical skills and experiences:
- Strong knowledge, demonstrable experience (i.e. 8 – 10 years +) and a successful track record in risk management and governance and at least one other associated discipline in the insurance sector.
- A breadth of knowledge across traditional and emerging areas of enterprise risk management
- enterprise risk management: depth and expertise in key areas, e.g. risk management frameworks, risk appetite, stress and scenario testing, ORSA;

- Practical experience with both the design and embedding of aspects of risk management, aimed at bringing sustained value to organisations.
- Knowledge, awareness of interest in several of our broader consulting offerings.

- Strong business acumen, with an ability to see the big picture and to think from a client perspective about how to develop innovative, practical and pragmatic solutions that can be executed to make a real difference.
- Demonstrable excellence in interpersonal skills and stakeholder management across a range of situations, with the ability to navigate and develop strong business relationships, including an ability to influence peers and clients. Extensive experience in working with senior people within client organisations, including Board and C-level executives.

- Confidence and focus combined with the emotional intelligence to work together with clients and other Crowe staff in a highly collaborative, considered and sensitive way. Able to work both independently and as part of small teams.
- A real interest in coaching and transferring knowledge to help develop and nurture Crowe’s consultants to build their skills and confidence, and to help support and drive the growth of the business.
- Excellent communication skills and high-quality written outputs and deliverables underpinned by a keen attention to detail, with an ability to explain complex topics to people from a variety of backgrounds. Able to write proposals, prepare reports, and present compellingly to Boards and senior managers.
