KPMG's Tax & Legal division are looking for a highly talented Consultant or Senior Consultant with experience in tax governance to join our growing Tax Governance & Transparency team on a full-time basis.

We are looking for a talented tax governance specialist to help project delivery, proposition and new business development to existing and new clients across industry sectors.
This is an opportunity to build your career based on your interest and experience in governance and controls; and help shape the future of wider ESG services as developments in tax transparency, responsible tax, responsible tax value chains and other emerging areas transpire.
The Tax Governance & Transparency team has a significant portfolio of clients that we advise on the assessment, enhancement and testing of tax governance measures and controls, and tax transparency reporting. It’s a team always looking to also help clients improve processes including the use of technology and transform tax functions.
The opportunity is to join a leading team to help expand, build and implement market better practices. We advise on board and framework level controls and how new investments are managed in addition to compliance and other BAU controls.
You will work closely with other team members across tax and beyond to assess, test and enhance tax governance and transparency measures across a wide range of clients – both domestic and international. You will be responsible for analysing and preparing reports on a diverse range of tax governance matters. You will develop professional relationships with clients, and seek out opportunities to enhance your skills.
Your role will include:
- Direct client exposure in workshops and other discussions
- Use of market leading digital tools
- Evaluation of tax governance frameworks and controls
- End to end testing of design and operating effectiveness of controls and report preparation
- Supporting clients with measures to improve tax control frameworks
- Supporting clients with the development of tax transparency reports
- Advising on tax function performance maturity and improvements
- Working with a range of internal and client stakeholders to help define and undertake each assignment
- You will also have the opportunity to work on projects with tax technical, tax transformation, ESG and internal audit teams.

To be considered for this opportunity, your qualifications, skills & experience could include:
- A passion for helping shape the future of tax as tax functions contribute to and respond to ESG trends
- Inhouse or advisory experience in tax governance, risk and compliance, or experience in risks and controls work more broadly with some exposure to tax
- Experience in the application of ATO guidance on tax governance
- An interest in tax, mostly income and operational taxes
- An interest in how organisations work, how they arrive at decisions and what processes need to be followed when doing so
- An interest in the application of technology to traditional tax and related processes to provide automation and control benefits
- An enquiring mind willing to challenge assumptions and current positions
- Attention to detail in analysis and report writing
- Exceptional client service and communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and time management skills
- A drive to help build our business and lead teams
Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline such as Business, Tax, Law, Audit or Finance / Commerce
