Job Description
In this role you will be reporting to the Compliance Director, providing compliance advice and training to support the Group and deliver its business model and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Compliance Director to maintain an up-to-date compliance manual for the Group, documenting all relevant policies designed to address relevant regulatory risks.
- Provide day-to-day advice on regulatory issues pertaining to the above to line management, direct reports and business colleagues, and participate in the development of new policies and procedures.
- Provide compliance expertise and advice to the Financial Planning, Bestinvest, Marketing business units on strategic decisions, propositional developments and material new business initiatives always ensuring an appropriate focus on good client outcomes.
- Identify, investigate, and report on breaches and incidents, ensuring that these are logged promptly and accurately in the Governance Risk & Control platform resolved within an appropriate timeframe.
- Provide insightful, forward looking, and timely written reports to senior management and relevant governance committees on regulatory issues.
- Attend and report to governance committees and management working groups, deputising for the Compliance Director as required.
- Assist with other general Compliance tasks as may be reasonably requested, such as representing Compliance on ad-hoc project working groups.
- Contribute to the review of regulatory publications and interaction with trade bodies on specific topics.
- Lead the FP & Marketing Advisory team, ensuring that direct reports provide timely and accurate advice to stakeholders, and maintain their competence by completion of relevant training and CPD.
- Undertake special regulatory projects as directed by the Chief Risk Officer & Group Head of Compliance or Compliance Director.
- Preferably degree educated
- Relevant industry qualifications would be an advantage
- Demonstrable experience in investment management or financial planning business
- Excellent understanding of relevant regulatory requirements in the UK, including FSMA 2000 and the FCA Handbook, LSE rules and the ISA Regulations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong inter-personal skills, judgement and decision-making ability, high energy, and a determined and proactive approach.
