Role/ Department:
The Guernsey Financial Reporting team has a senior accountant position open. The team is responsible for ensuring that the financial statements of fund entities under Northern Trust Guernsey's administration—including open and closed-ended investment funds—are prepared promptly, accurately, and to the highest standards.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
- Preparing the timetable for accounts production.
- Designing Proforma accounts on Excel/Word, ensuring that layout, content & disclosures are in accordance with the Principal Documents of the fund, legal, GAAP (UK, IFRS, US) and other requirements.
- Planning and co-ordinating the dividend process with clients and third party boards.
- Liaising with other teams regarding the closing down of the accounting periods.
- Compiling the accounts using Excel/Word workbooks, including drafting corporate governance reports.
- Co-ordinating the audits and resolving audit queries.
- Submitting GFSC and Stock Exchange notifications and announcements.
- Understands key compliance issues.
- Lead by example and promote teamwork.
- Review of financial statements produced by more junior members of the Guernsey team and other teams to which Guernsey FR outsource work (Ireland, Luxembourg, Manila).
- Attendance at audit committee meetings to present accounts / dividend calculations.
Skills/ Qualifications:
The successful candidate will benefit from having:
- Thorough Knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS / UK GAAP) and Guernsey Company Law
- Experience in preparing accounts in fund / financial services environment
- Good IT skills – Excel to Intermediate level, including pivot tables / Word / Teams
- Accurate with attention to detail
- Time Management and organisational skills
- Team Worker
- Qualified Accountant (ACCA or ACA)
