Job Summary
Strategy
- Awareness and understanding of the Branch's business strategy and model in the light of the Group's Strategy
Business
- Lead various Projects that the Branch undertakes as representative of Finance department.
- Australia Branch is on a journey to becoming a self-funded/ full-fledged branch. This requires running multiple projects for migrating loans (from other SCB centres to AU branch), new system implementations, utilisation of local deposits to funding loans, etc. This role requires to be at the forefront of all the projects
- Monitor and highlight any Operational control issues to appropriate forums like CRC, CMT or ALCO.
- Perform all the Financial Reporting to internal (GIA, Management Teams) and external stakeholders (APRA, ABS, external Audit).
- Oversight over all Financial Controls activities like substantiation and reconciliation of accounts.
Processes
- Support Country Asset Liability Committee (ALCO) through secretarial activities including conducting the meetings as well as preparation of materials
- Support the Country Management Team (CMT) meetings by providing performance updates and highlight any significant financial matters for the CMT's deliberation
- Manage the reporting of financials to local regulatory authority APRA (quarterly and monthly returns) as well as the Group's head office
- Own the ledger of the branch (PSGL) by managing the closing of books on monthly basis
- Conduct Performance management activities like Budgeting, Forecasting per the required cycles as well as reporting in PMI and providing variance analysis Support the monthly business review (MBR) activities.
- Contribute to the various projects being run in the country to help achieve the Branch's objective of being a full-fledged branch.
- Carry out Financial Controls activities like approving FCS substantiations, overseeing reconciliation of accounts and attending FORTMs
Key Responsibilities
Risk Management
- Involved in Management of all liquidity ratios like LCR, NSFR.
- Management to include support the regular reporting and early alert of any management actions to be taken to prevent triggers.
- To be involved in setting Risk metrics like VaR for the Australia Branch (once its applicable) with Group Market Risk Teams.
- Help manage the metric on an ongoing basis once it is set.
- Prompt escalation of any risk events and provide solution to prevent future recurrence
Skills and Experience
Governance
- Managing the Country Addendums for any new products (required by Projects) by gathering all requirements which will help approvers in reviewing the CA.
- Approving CAS for finance department.
- Ensure all processes are properly implemented.
- Monitor regulatory developments and assess the impact to regulatory reporting requirement.
- Ensure compliance of regulatory limits and reporting requirements
- Kept abreast with treasury/tax/legal/ regulatory changes and implement appropriate control procedures
Regulatory & Business Conduct
- Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct.
- Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. Qualifications
- Chartered Accountant by Qualification.

- 10 + Years of experience in either Finance or Banking
- Bank’s liquidity reporting knowledge such as LCR and NSFR
