Your Role At Baxter:

The Americas Accounting Center of Expertise (CoE) supports Baxter’s monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close processes and has high visibility to senior leadership.

This position requires strong cross-functional collaboration with various Local Country Finance contacts, the Costa Rica Shared Services Center (SSC) and other members of the Accounting CoE.

General areas of responsibility include accounting support for global and regional warranty (field corrective action) accruals, research and development transactions, and various ad-hoc accounting requests, and supporting the accounting for manufacturing and supply chain functions. This role also serves as the controllership for Canada, including the completion of cash and legal forecasts for the country, as well as governing various income tax filing deliverables to our outsourced tax experts. This role will create, review and submit manual journal entries, and will complete various account reconciliations. Driving process improvements, efficiencies and standardization of accounting processes , including effective working with shared service center accounting team members are key to this role.

This team focuses on ensuring accurate accounting treatment for complex areas of accounting, evaluating internal controls, and establishing efficient and accurate close processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate/timely reporting of monthly financial data, including required US GAAP/management adjustments and accounting support
  • Determine the appropriate accounting treatment for transactions ensuring compliance with US GAAP and completion of documentation for audit purposes
  • Provide control and oversight around month-end close processes, including alignment of accounting impacts with key stakeholders (Corporate, Division, and local Finance & operational teams)
  • Analyze, process, and identify opportunities for improvement initiatives including implementation and stabilization of implemented improvements.
  • Manage and prepare month-end close entries for entry into JDE and FCCS – as required
  • Primary accounting support for Global and regional manufacturing teams

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related subject
  • Three or more years of relevant industry accounting experience
  • Demonstration of key accounting/finance competencies and qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial analysis, including understanding of internal control requirements and relevant business environments
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) [use of short-cut keys, PivotTable, VLOOKUP, SUMIF(s), INDEX, MATCH, etc.]
  • Working knowledge of JDE systems, or similar general ledger systems

Preferred Experience:

  • Current CPA license
  • Process improvement and process innovation experience
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and to apply professional judgement
  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and to effectively escalate or resolve issues to meet deadlines
  • Adaptable, self-starter with strong analytical skills and decision-making capabilities
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, often cross-functionally
  • Respectfully challenge the status quo

The estimated base salary for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, commission, and/or long-term incentive.
