Current Opportunity – Financial Accountant (Internal Finance)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join our national finance team at BDO. In this role, you will be an integral part of our growing finance team, offering exposure to see a firm undergoing a new system implementation, internal process reviews and the opportunity to contribute to process improvements and automation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ownership of the month-end process, preparing and posting journal entries including accruals, prepayments, adjustments, etc.
  • Preparation of analysis and commentaries of Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet movement and investigation of variances
  • Preparation of timely balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy of journals posted
  • Assist with preparation of financial statements for statutory reporting requirements and liaison with auditors
  • Update and maintain Fixed Asset Register
  • Provide support to the AP and AR functions
  • Collaborate on various accounting related projects with the wider Finance team
  • Working collaboratively with the team to meet deadlines and continually improve and streamline our processes

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • 3+ years of experience working in teams responsible for financial accounting and reporting in a complex environment (chartered accounting firm or finance department)
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or similar
  • CA/ CPA qualifications (or working towards)
  • Experience with Great Plains, Workday and Caseware (preferred but not essential)
  • High level of competency in using Microsoft Office tools (esp. Excel and Power Query)
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills to work cohesive with stakeholders and team members to deliver results
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, be able to think critically about processes, and identify efficiencies
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet strict deadlines

Competitive salary based on level of experience: starting from $80,000, inclusive of super.
