Job Description

Purpose of the job

Working with a strong focus on insurance-related clients, as a member of a team of Account Managers, provide efficient professional accounting and administrative services to meet the management, accounting and back-office requirements of all clients (both internal and external) of Ocorian Management and any such other activities as may be reasonably required by the role.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage the affairs of a varied portfolio of clients, primarily Bermuda registered insurance companies, by applying technical knowledge to practical situations, specifically in banking, regulatory compliance, and other ad hoc requests and reports.
  • Maintain (or supervise the maintenance of) clients’ accounting records, and prepare financial reports in accordance with industry requirements and in accordance with US GAAP or IFRS accounting standards.
  • Liaise directly with clients, bankers, brokers, auditors, regulators and other service providers.
  • Assist in the development of new areas of business and marketing.
  • Assist in coordinating and providing listing services to clients and liaise with the Bermuda Stock Exchange and/ or any other stock exchange as needed.
  • Preparation of Statutory Financial Returns in accordance with the Bermuda Insurance Act 1978.
  • Review and monitor procedures to ensure compliance with best practice

Qualifications Required

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Qualified Accountant i.e., CPA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent qualification.
  • At least 3 years’ post qualification experience, at least 1 year of which should be insurance related.
  • A detailed knowledge of the preparation of GAAP and IFRS compliant financial statements
  • The ability to apply internal controls and compliance procedures in a variety of client service situations.
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of applications, specifically MS Word, MS Excel and Outlook.
  • Proficiency in the use of a variety of accounting software packages, e.g. SAP, QuickBooks would be beneficial.
  • Highly organised team player who is a self-starter, enthusiastic, flexible, well presented and dedicated.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications.
  • Proven interpersonal and client care skills including the ability to communicate professionally with bankers, auditors, attorneys and colleagues and to exercise discretion and confidentiality in all matters.
