Make an impact with our International Tax group as an Accounting Technician. This diverse team of professionals delivers customized tax strategies within a complex and dynamic regulatory framework. As a trusted advisor, you’ll develop innovative strategies that enable clients to streamline processes, maximize efficiencies and minimize global tax liability while meeting their international reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop technical skills in areas such as corporate income tax compliance, tax accounting, tax research and writing
  • Develop and apply knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, the Canadian Income Tax Act, bilateral income tax treaties and related legislation
  • Set-up files for new and existing clients and manage multiple files simultaneously
  • Research various tax related issues and conclude on their potential implications
  • Collect and analyze relevant financial and tax data
  • Review, investigate and correct discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries, documents and reports
  • Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns for various types of entities (may prepare personal tax returns)
  • Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining engagement findings, facts and highlights
  • Collaborate with client engagement team and build relationships with client contacts
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes while effectively using MNP internal programs and systems
  • Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary

Skills and Experience

  • Possess a post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate in accounting or another relevant field
  • Experience in an accounting, customer service and/or client service environment is preferred
  • Previous experience in preparation of personal and corporate tax returns is an asset
  • Experience working with, or exposure to, accounting and tax software such as CaseWare, CCH Axcess and TaxPrep or Taxcycle is preferred
  • Working knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act, specifically in Canadian Personal Tax
  • Experience working with US Tax is considered an asset
  • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

The annual salary range for this position is: $40,000 - $60,000. Compensation is determined based on individual skills and relevant experience.
