Role Summary
Acting as a Trainee Client Accountant within the Altum Group, undertaking a range of accounting duties such as bookkeeping, performing bank and investment portfolio reconciliations and preparing some simple annual financial statements under direction from your designated superiors. Undertake a recognised professional accountancy qualification.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out bookkeeping as instructed by accounting team members; Perform monthly reconciliation of Managed Entities’ bank accounts in accordance with the Company’s procedures; Recording of all movements in Managed Entities’ investment portfolios and reconciliations of accounting records to broker statements in accordance with the Company’s procedures; Liaise with administrators where queries arise e.g. regarding nature of transactions; Ensure that all reconciling items are reported to superiors and that all reconciling items are cleared, by the processing of the required journals, in a timely and satisfactory manner; and Perform other duties as necessary to support the accounting team and wider business and generally act in the best interests of the division by supporting team members. Preparation of simple Managed Entities’ annual financial statements under direction from and for review by superior. This will include the processing of appropriate year end journals and amendments to ledger under supervision. Maintain and Monitor task list to ensure completion on a timely basis, under supervision of your superior; Effectively manage workload, complete daily work and allocated project work as needed; and Effectively communicate the status of workload to superiors as appropriate. Ensure accurate and timely recording of personal time in line with group procedures; and Ensure time records are up to date at all times.
Expected Skills / experience
Minimum 120 UCAS points or equivalent
Minimum 2.2 degree (for graduates)
Good standard of GCSE’s or equivalent with at least a grade 5 (C ) in English and a grade 6 (B) in Maths
IT literate and confident when word processing, using Internet software, E-Mail, Database software and Excel Spreadsheets.
