About the role
The Plant Controller collaborates closely with plant management to oversee all financial operations within the facility. This includes analyzing manufacturing costs, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and improving operational efficiency. By providing timely insights, the Plant Controller enables informed decision-making regarding the business’s financial performance. Additionally, this role actively contributes to non-financial key performance indicators (KPIs) by supporting and challenging other functions as needed.
We are currently seeking a Plant Controller for our Owen, WI facility within Kerry, which operates over 41 sites across North America. Owen is a key part of our Food division, employing nearly 125 team members. This role presents an outstanding opportunity for an experienced and ambitious finance leader to enhance their commercial and strategic skills, gain plant leadership experience, and engage with business-level leadership teams at critical plants within our network. Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with all members of the site leadership team to ensure ownership and accountability for financial performance.
- Identify process improvement and cost reduction opportunities across various plant-related cost categories (materials, labor, equipment, indirect purchases, and inventory).
- Present plant financial analysis and scorecards to both plant and business unit management, emphasizing operational performance.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and period-end operational performance reports, providing recommendations for corrective action.
- Partner with the Plant Manager during monthly operating results presentations to business unit management and contribute to future strategic decisions for the plant.
- Manage Month End period closing, including balance sheet management, accruals, and purchase order reconciliation.
- Ensure process adherence across the plant for relevant metrics such as Inventory Control, Risk Management, Cycle Counting Accuracy, Inventory Obsolescence, Vendor Payment Management, and Customer Billing (note that Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable are centralized, but plant processes are crucial for smooth operations).
- Oversee Capital Projects Performance Reporting.
- Handle budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Implement Kerry Best Practices.
- Participate in Gemba walks.
- Fulfill any other assigned duties.
Qualifications and skills
- Education: bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited institution is required.
- Certifications: CPA, CMA, or equivalent certifications are desired but not mandatory.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient knowledge of Excel, SAP, and other accounting systems is highly desired. Familiarity with performance-based measurement is essential. Training on ERP/SAP and company-specific systems will be provided as needed.
The typical hiring range for this role is $105,129 to $159,134 annually and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements.
