Retail Banking Services Finance acts as a partner to the Retail Banking Services (RBS) business unit and other business units to help them succeed with the Bank’s goals and their business unit responsibilities.
This is achieved by providing financial information and business advice to support our business units to build sustainable shareholder value.
RBS Finance provides financial information and business advice to support our business units to build sustainable shareholder value. RBS Finance forms part of the Financial Services (FS) support unit, whose vision is to make a difference on the things that matter.
You will report directly to the Executive General Manager/CFO of RBS Finance.
Do work that matters
The role provides strategic support to the RBS CFO along with management and coordination of the various teams reporting to the RBS CFO.
This critical role requires organisation, structure and forward planning preparation to ensure delivery of the key strategic initiatives. The role will support the delivery of responsibilities as part of the RBS Finance team. As such, this role will provide strategic technical, advisory and planning support including:
- Ability to articulate key business drivers, provide critical insights to drive debate, and deliver value-add analysis across the RBS portfolio of products and businesses;
- Production of analysis and insights to drive RBS performance and strategy;
- Preparation of high quality presentations and supporting analysis / insight for senior management (RBS Group Executive, CFO, Retail Leadership Team and Group Finance);
- Preparing RBS CFO for key meetings and deliver relevant insights and information to enable effective decision making;
- Answering ad hoc queries from the RBS CFO, Group Finance, RBS business and strategy;
- Build and maintain productive relationships with Finance and Non-Finance stakeholders including RBS Finance Teams, M&A, Treasury, Group Finance, Group Accounting Policy, RBS Strategy and RBS Risk Management;
- Promote a customer-focused high performing team culture, including ongoing knowledge transfer of the drivers of the retail banking portfolio;
- Contribute to team culture and nurturing work environment;
- Undertake any other tasks assigned by the RBS CFO, which can be competently and safely performed; and
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct sets the standards of behaviour, actions and decisions we expect from our people.
We’re interested in hearing from people who have
- Post graduate qualifications preferred (CA/CPA);
- Previous experience in a finance and accounting function;
- Advanced data gathering and reporting skills;
- Advanced financial reporting and analysis skills;
- Executive stakeholder engagement, influencing and relationship building skills, that enable constructive working relationships and outcomes across the Group;
- Advanced experience as a passionate people leader in developing high performing teams, by creating an inclusive environment where people can grow and develop to reach their full potential;
- Strong collaboration and active learning capabilities in being able to explore new perspectives and seek out opportunities to work collaboratively with others across the organisation, bringing together the appropriate expertise to solve problems and deliver outcomes;
- Proven track record in the development and execution of strategic initiatives that have delivered, timely and cost effective, tangible benefits for the Group and its Customers;
- Strong analytical skills, business acumen and knowledge of performance drivers across the RBS business;
- Previous experience in the research and preparation of executive papers, presentations and associated collateral for a broad audience; and,
