Basic Purpose of Job:

The Expense IC Emerging Leader provides subject matter knowledge in the assigned area of Financial Planning & Analysis develops a thorough develops a thorough understanding of State Street’s business practices to effectively perform independent, complex reporting or analytics to support the ad-hoc needs of the Expense IC leads business unit Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Responsibilities & Tasks Include:

  • Completion of high-quality deliverables within the committed timeframe. Deliverables vary by BU focus but typically relate to.
    1. Month/quarter/year-end closing, Budget and Forecast
    2. Deep dive analysis and Consolidation
    3. Expense reviews (Direct expenses and Allocated expenses)
    4. Help in preparing Expense walks - waterfalls.
    5. Variance analysis along with preparation of management presentations describing insights.
    6. Holistic view of overall Indirect Expense Allocation process
    7. Working knowledge on advanced excel including VBA and power query.
    8. Service Delivery, Technology and other General & Administrative Chargebacks and various methodologies backing the allocations.
  • Communicate with business units throughout the company to collect information for Expense management reporting and analyses.
  • Work closely with Expense Analytics team members and extended EIC team to provide requested analysis, reports, and metrics.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate preparation of various financial analyses on critical and complex issues which may include variance analysis, forecasts, budgeting, and accounting transactions.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert, drive project, work streams to enhance processes and reporting.
  • Develop and/or update various financial models to generate analyses.
  • Stay abreast of changes/updates, review and interpret guidance, and apply changes as needed.
  • Prepares reports and presentations packages. Interprets results for management.
  • Work cross-geographically to share knowledge to ensure consistent and accurate reporting.

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • 5-6 years of experience within Financial Planning & Analysis
  • MBA/ CA or secondary education preferred.
  • Financial service industry experience preferred.
  • Preparation and analysis of Financial Statement and experience in a global setting
  • Working experience with business unit finance heads across regions

Skills/ Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Hyperion Essbase, VBA, Power Query.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word), advanced levels of excel (pivot tables, formulas, excel workbook maintenance best practices)
  • Strong executive presence, detail oriented and well organized, strong interpersonal skills, ability to prioritize work, ability to interact and manage expectations from Senior Management.
  • Have solid problem-solving skills as well as written and verbal communication skills.
