The position
Our award-winning Corporate Services team in Jersey provides a full suite of professional services to a UK and global client base. Our clients are most often large institutions with household names – and typically span for sectors: Private Equity, Private (unlisted) Capital, Global Corporate Mandates (multi-jurisdictional engagement), and the more bespoke arrangements such as joint venture vehicles, strategic TopCos, segregated investment entity, etc.
Given our exceptional client base, the team get the opportunity to work on a varied and sometimes complex set of assignments. We operate a global service line which ensures consistent application of good governance and best practice in corporate administration services across multiple jurisdictions and time zones, striving to provide a joined up service delivery and innovative solutions to our clients to best support their business. Underpinning all of this though is our continued focus on building and maintaining strong personal relationships with client contacts to better understand and anticipate their needs.
Your responsibilities
- People
- Be a line manager and mentor to a corporate services team
- Act as a role model and coach team members in their development, both individually and as a team unit
- Promote effective delegation
- Encourage and promote knowledge sharing both on team and cross-teams (learning together)
- Demonstrate good motivation, communicative, and leadership skills and take care of, and establish good relationships with all team members
- Be a change agent in promoting the benefits of business change programs to your team, so as to achieve early buy in and active participation
- Technical
- Provide technical support to the Corporate Services team administrators – and the wider CLS business as needed
- Be or become an expert in the products and services offered on team and in the wider business so as to help educate internally, and confidently talk about our capability to external parties
- Operations / Financial
- Take responsibility for an assigned portfolio of clients/ cases
- In some cases hands on work will be required to support the team and to properly handle more complex cases or issues as they arise
- Collaborate effectively both with team members and directors
- Assist with ad-hoc team projects to ensure delivery within agreed timeframes
- Undertake reviews of financial statements and other legal/technical documents
- Ensure client records are clearly updated with all correspondence, conduct client care meetings, and maintain good relationships with clients
- Produce and/ or review minutes, resolutions, and any other administration duties as required
- Assist the administrators in the co-ordination of the accounts preparation function for all team clients, in liaison with the Accounting Services Team, and including liaison with external auditors, where relevant.
- Assist in the management of the financial affairs of the team, including budgeting, monitoring against performance, review of staff time charging, preparation of quotations for potential and existing clients, and billing
- Compliance and Regulatory
- Ensure that all policies and procedures are implemented for your clients
- Proactively keep up-to-date awareness of current industry issues e.g. changes in regulatory and legislation matters and share these in an appropriate format with the wider team
- Ensure all statutory return deadlines are adhered to as required, and assist with keeping client records up to date
- Pro-actively complete client take-on process and on-going reviews of clients
- Commercial
- Actively participate in business development and commercial activity – which may involve some travel, mainly to the UK
- Contribute to the department's strategy for growth and actively contribute to team and management strategy
- Take responsibility – along with the wider management team – for the corporate services team achieving budgeted revenue each year and look for ways to increase book of business and assist in the development of a commercial mindset across the teams
- Have the delivery of enhanced client service at the forefront of every action and strive to deepen client relationships
Your profile
- You’re an established Manager (people and technical), and have experience working within a regulated financial service environment
- Ideally CGI (formerly ICSA) or ACCA qualified, or equivalent
- Act as a role model, and have the ability to foster relationships, motivate and support colleagues
- Client-centric, adept at quickly building a rapport and trusted relationship with client contacts
- You have a growth mindset and a keen interest to take part in Business Development activities
- Experience of acting as an authorised signatory on client matters
- Knowledge of local legislation and good corporate governance practice
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to formulate, consider, and select the most appropriate solutions
- Ideally, you will have prior experience of managing or supporting change within your team
- Ability to work effectively in a team, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing
