About the Team

Our Corporate Finance & Deal Advisory team is one of the leading mid-market Valuations, Transaction Services and M&A teams in Western Australia. Combined with BDO’s national and international network, the team is able to provide multi-disciplinary insights to our clients, supporting them throughout the transaction lifecycle. Our clients include Australian private and listed corporates, private equity firms and global enterprises.

About the Role

Opportunity for a Assistant Manager to join our Corporate Finance & Deal Advisory team in Perth focusing on Transaction Services.

You’ll be working in a team environment leading and mentoring staff on a variety of projects across a range of sectors. You will work to understand the client’s business profit drivers and trends, as well as challenge assumptions of future performance and assist with sale purchase agreements and other finance related transaction matters.

You will manage/ co-manage and lead teams performing detailed financial analysis (i.e. financial due diligence and forecast reviews) and preparing reports/ presentations for senior management and boards. 

This role will also provide the opportunity to:

  • Interact directly with senior management (C-suite) of our clients
  • Identify negotiation factors for purchase price and deal structuring
  • Mentor and coach a team of talented corporate finance practitioners
  • Set a career path with clear and honest visibility around progression
  • Be responsible for business development and pursuit activities as well as cultivating long-term client relationships

About You

You have a background in Transaction Services or have an interest in developing financial due diligence skills. You're commercially minded and able to gain an understanding of businesses and their unique value drivers. You thrive in a collaborative and innovative culture and want to join a firm that values resourceful thinking. 

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Demonstrated transaction services experience within a top-tier / mid-tier accounting firm, investment bank or boutique advisory firm
  • CA/CPA qualified (other qualifications such as CFA will be looked upon favourably)
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills (including experience with writing reports for Directors and C-suite stakeholders)
  • An excellent working knowledge of Excel and extensive experience in developing and/or reviewing financial models
  • Advanced financial analysis, business acumen and problem solving skills combined with a sound understanding of accounting principles and concepts
  • Experience with managing work flow and delegation of work to appropriate staff, ensuring jobs are completed efficiently, meet technical standards and are within budget and deadlines
  • Coaching, mentoring and team management skills
  • Exposure to or interest in the broader deal/ transaction process and environment
