As the top Internal Audit Executive you will be accountable for planning and directing all aspects of Baxter’s global Auditing function – ensuring the effectiveness of our internal controls, risk management processes, and compliance frameworks. You will design and execute short as well as long-term strategies that provide objective assurance on the adequacy of Baxter’s financial reporting and internal controls including execution of an annual audit plan.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage a financial and operational risk-based audit strategy and plan focused on evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, internal controls, and governance processes of the organization.
- Lead internal audit function that measures, evaluates, and recommends changes in financial and managerial controls as required to protect assets, prevent fraud, and maximize operational efficiency.
- Establish and evaluate internal audit methodologies, policies and procedures, and activities to ensure audit activities are consistent throughout the company and compliant with Sarbanes-Oxley.
- Take a proactive position on regulatory matters and represent the organization to outside public accountants, regulatory auditors, and officials.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the internal audit function, leveraging technology, data analytics, and best practices to enhance audit efficiency and effectiveness.
- Establish strong relationships with internal and external constituents including CEO, CFO, audit committee, regulators, business, and regional finance constituents.
- Accountable for keeping the CEO and audit committee of the board fully and currently informed of issues relating to financial risk exposure, control, and, as needed, corporate governance.
- Advise and establish the governance processes for the audit committee.
- Participate in the Corporate Responsibility Office and play an active role in supporting investigations to ensure compliance with regulations and corporate ethics.
- Build and motivate a strong and cohesive team of future leaders through coaching, development, and empowerment.
- Ensure hiring and succession plans for key positions.
- Foster a high-performing and engaged team culture.
Qualifications:
- Background leading a team that establishes, evaluates, and manages an internal or external audit program in a large multi-national organization or public accounting firm.
- Proven experience setting priorities as well as delivering and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes of an organization.
- Leader with experience in directly working with senior management as a business partner driving results and contributing to the success of the business.
- Significant experience interacting with finance regulators.
- Demonstrated knowledge/understanding of risk management and overall fiduciary responsibility.
- Excellent business acumen including broad knowledge and perspective on the business as well as the ability to anticipate future consequences and trends accurately.

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $296,000 - $407,000 USD annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and/or long-term incentive.
