Role/ Department:

Reporting to the Head of International Capital Management and working as part of a London-based hybrid working team, the successful candidate will work on all aspects of international capital management and resolution planning, including:

  • the preparation of ICAAP and ILAAP reports
  • risk capital computations on regulatory/internally assessed basis
  • assessment of regulatory changes/implementation of changes
  • drafting Pillar 3 disclosures
  • drafting liquidity risk assessments and contingency funding plans
  • evaluation of new business initiatives from a capital and liquidity perspective
  • Drafting recovery and Resolution materials

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Perform a pivotal role during the annual capital adequacy assessment process for several entities: coordinating the ICAAP working groups, completing capital calculations, participating in stress testing workshops & taking final documents through governance review.
  • Draft annual Pillar 3 disclosures, working closely with key stakeholders to ensure accuracy of information prior to external publication.
  • Responsible for the documentation of liquidity assessment workshops and drafting of liquidity adequacy assessments.
  • Responsible for annual review and documentation of contingency funding plans ensuring governance process is adhered to in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and help to further develop the capital planning and the liquidity risk management tools used to manage the adequacy of Northern Trust capital and liquidity outside of the US.
  • Work closely with business units and other support areas to evaluate new business initiatives and internal reorganisations to ensure the potential capital and liquidity adequacy implications are fully articulated and clearly understood by the key stakeholders.
  • Assist with the analysis and implementation of regulatory initiatives at the Basel, EU and local levels that impact capital and liquidity adequacy through the regulatory change tracking process; organising and leading monthly review meetings, review and approval of impact assessment and following up on outstanding items.
  • Various project work arising as a result of business or regulatory changes.

Skills/Qualifications

The successful candidate will benefit from having:

  • Sound prudential knowledge gained through a treasury, regulatory policy or regulatory reporting background (IFR and IFPR, UK, EU & international prudential regimes).
  • Strong MS Office skills (advanced Excel, Word & PowerPoint).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organise, manage and prioritise work in order to deliver to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively with peers, senior management, and overseas colleagues.
  • Investigative and questioning nature.
  • Knowledge of risk management methodologies.
