JOB TITLE: Finance Manager - Product Control, Group Finance Support

SALARY: £62,874-£68,860

LOCATION(S): Edinburgh

HOURS: Full-time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

About this opportunity

An exciting opportunity to join a fast paced finance function at Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) has arisen. A fairly small but tight knit team, Product Control is a key interface between the activity undertaken by the Commercial Banking and Treasury desks and the financials reported in the general ledger. It is our role to verify, translate and explain 'accounting' data to support our Finance partners to report effectively.

Overview of the role

You'll be responsible for the production of weekly Banking book P&Ls for the GCT Securitisation desk. This includes providing analysis of the P&L at the appropriate level of granularity and ensuring appropriate controls are in place around the completeness, accuracy and presentation of reserves.

Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV's) play a vital role in supporting LBG. SPV's are utilised for:

  • Significant Risk Transfers (SRT's). SRT's are used to reduce the Risk Weighted Assets (RWA's) of a Division by selling them to the SPV and thus "de-recognise" them on the balance sheet. This reduces RWA's of the Division where the assets originally resided and support the Groups capital consumption.

  • Retail Lending - SPVs where the underlying assets are Retail Mortgages (High Loan to Value, LTV). We securitise existing High LTV (85/95%) mortgages to provide headroom to the Retail Division to increase their lending capability.

  • Pension Assets - SPV's also support contingent asset requirements for various pension schemes across the Group.

You'll be responsible for reporting the PnL on the SPV's within Group Corporate Treasury. Weekly PnL reporting is required. Where the package structures hold an embedded derivative, daily mark to market PnL's are required.

You'll have at least one direct report.

To make an impact in this role, the candidate will have to gain an understanding of existing processes and responsibilities, leverage the existing teams abilities and knowledge to problem solve daily and look to improve process workflows.

Key accountabilities

  • Diary management, engaging partners and SMEs where required to motivate change, support decision making and support changes to the systems and associated architecture.

  • An ability to manage people and support their progress.
