About the role

In this role you will support the accounting and tax as well as payroll team in the provision of a high-quality client service, producing service deliverables for a portfolio of tax clients. This will include the preparation of data, acting as the primary day to day contact for the provision of those services, to meet stakeholders’ and client expectations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Liaise with a portfolio of local and foreign clientele to facilitate statutory submissions to SARS
  • Follow approved guidelines and processes in the preparation and submission of statutory corporate filings (VAT & CIT)
  • Completing corporate tax filings from trial balance to post assessment
  • Maintain taxpayer compliance status with local legislative requirements and international standards.
  • Maintain taxpayer information on SARS system ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Preparation and completion of ad-hoc assignments such as: Registered representative updates
  • General update of registered particulars
  • Trust, VAT & payroll registrations
  • Deregistration of tax types
  • Responding to SARS Verifications and Audits (VAT / Income Tax / Provisional Tax)
  • Initiating and completing dispute resolution procedures with SARS (Requests for Remissions and objections)
  • Communicate with SARS for follow up’s escalations and resolutions on any pending work items

Key knowledge and experience

  • Tax background with similar experience and studying towards a recognized tax qualification
  • 1+ years full function e-filing, or other tax submission software, experience
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
