Balance Sheet Efficiency and Reporting is part of Group Treasury (GT) team that sits within the Financial Services (FS) division of CBA. The team is responsible for liquidity risk and balance sheet management, including partnering with business, risk and finance stakeholders on the allocation of capital, funding and liquidity resources. The team performs reporting and analysis for internal and external stakeholders. The Balance Sheet Efficiency and Reporting team includes the following sub-teams:
- Capital Reporting and Accuracy
- Liquidity Reporting and Accuracy
- Liquidity Policy and Stress Testing
- Visualisation and Automation
Your team provides financial support to the business around Regulatory Capital, Risk Weighted Assets (RWA) and Target Equity. The team works closely with stakeholders across Finance, Treasury and Risk Management to deliver optimal capital outcomes for the Group.
This role reports to the General Manager Balance Sheet Efficiency and Reporting.
The role will have exposure to a wide range of stakeholders including senior members of Finance, Treasury, Business and Risk Management.
You will drive key deliverables including monthly capital operations and reporting, BU capital and Target Equity allocation, external reporting, capital efficiency initiatives and other ad-hoc analysis. This role will have a key focus on delivering actionable insights, data analytics and process re-engineering and simplification.
Do work that matters
The role includes, but is not limited, to the following:
- Work closely with senior stakeholders to deliver timely, accurate and insightful capital reporting.
- Support the change management process for the Group’s capital engine, ensuring impact to capital operations, reporting and capital allocation is understood and communicated to key stakeholders
- Ownership of the Group’s internal capital allocation process and deliverables, with a mandate for continuous improvement and process simplification (focused on accuracy, timeliness and functionality)
- Articulate key risk and capital drivers, provide meaningful insights to drive debate, and deliver value-add analysis of the Group’s products and businesses
- Develop the team’s knowledge and understanding of business products and how they flow through the Group’s systems and are treated from a regulatory capital perspective.
- Understand and test changes to capital calculations as a result of planned or actual regulatory and/or system changes and be able to communicate impacts to stakeholders
- Build and maintain productive relationships with a range of stakeholders including senior members of Finance, Treasury, Business and Risk Management teams
- Help drive team goals and priorities including a strong and vibrant team culture, continuous process improvement, actionable insights, ad-hoc analysis and effective coordination of all Reporting processes
- Lead, coach and develop a high performing team and positive team culture
- Lead continuous improvement and productivity across initiatives within the team.
We’re interested in hearing from people who have
- Tertiary Qualifications – hold a tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, or an equivalent business-related discipline
- CA qualification
- Minimum 10 years’ post graduate Financial Services experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts using simple language
- Excellent analytical skills, demonstrating independent thought and critical thinking
- Experience in leading and developing a high performing team
- Previous experience in banking, financial markets, or risk management is advantageous
- Strong business partnering skills with a proven track record in collaborating, influencing and driving outcomes
- Business oriented, positive mind-set, resilient, with a clear focus on outcomes
- Sound knowledge of regulatory and accounting standards, financial control processes and financial systems experience including GTRS (oracle), Alteryx, SQL, Tableau will be an advantage.
- Proven ability to build and embed new reporting processes that meet Data Management Frameworks.
- Sound commercial acumen and professional judgement with the ability to make recommendations and draw out insights.
- Advanced Excel & visualisation skills
