Key Responsibilities:
- Review and/or preparation of income tax returns for companies, trusts, individuals and managed funds.
- Preparation and/or review of Country-by-Country (CbC) reporting files.
- Preparation and review of FBT returns for entities of varying sizes, including those with complex employee benefits packages.
- Preparation of tax distribution calculations for managed funds and property trusts, including identifying and appropriately dealing with tax risk areas such as MIT, AMIT, TOFA, WHT etc.
- Provide support to other teams in resolving tax queries, including conducting research and applying the relevant legislation and tax rulings as required
- Preparation of written tax guidance memorandums with the support of the Tax Manager
- Maintaining and managing the tax lodgement list for the firm and ensuring timely and accurate lodgement of all tax returns and FBT returns to the ATO
- Provide tax support to the Public Officer and conduct sanity checks on tax related documents prepared by external tax agents
- Assist with the preparation and updating of tax checklists and workpapers, and make suggestion for improvement on current procedures
- Train and mentor junior staff on preparation of tax and FBT returns as well as resolving tax queries raised by clients.
- Assist with Business Development (BD) opportunities
- Maintain relationship with clients and internal/external stakeholders
- Limited work relating to:
- Bookkeeping and accounting for various clients
- BS and P&L accounts reconciliations
- Cost plus calculations
- Month end reporting
- IAS and BAS returns
- Liaise with clients, auditors, banks, suppliers and The Australian Taxation Office
- Identify client’s needs and new business opportunities and inform AM / Manager
- Keep accurate records by coding correctly timesheets in ViewPoint
- Ad hoc duties as and when require.
Job Requirements:
- Degree holder with recognized accounting qualification or business related disciplines
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in CA/CPA firms or multinational companies with significant taxation responsibilities
- Completed professional qualifications in CA or CPA
- Advanced Microsoft Office application (advanced Excel a must)
- Strong knowledge of widely used accounting systems (e.g. MYOB, XERO)
- Strong command of written and spoken English
