Position Purpose

We are looking for a Team Leader Intern to join our team in a work-from-home or hybrid working environment. The role is ideal for part-qualified professionals pursuing a career in accounting.  The role-holder will join an accounting team that delivers high quality accounting services to international clients.  The role is busy and demanding but offers excellent opportunities to gain hands-on experience in various leadership tasks.

Upon successfully completing the internship, the intern should have enough experience for us to sign at least 4 ACCA Performance Objectives: PO6 – Record and process transactions; and PO2 – Stakeholder Relationship Management. PO5 – Leadership and Management; PO13 – Plan and Control Performance.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  1. Leadership and Supervision: Lead and supervise an accounting team, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to quality standards.  Guide and mentor interns, overseeing their work and fostering positive learning environment.
  2. Client Communication: Act as a primary point of contact for clients, addressing enquiries, providing updates, and ensuring client satisfaction.  Collaborate with clients to understand their financial needs and tailor our services accordingly.
  3. Quality Control: Review and approve the work of accounting interns, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and adherence to accounting standards. Conduct regular internal audits to maintain the highest quality of financial services.
  4. Strategic Planning: Contribute to developing strategic plans for the accounting team, identifying areas for improvement and implementing effective solutions. Collaborate with leadership to enhance overall financial processes. 
  5. Process Optimisation: Identify opportunities to streamline and optimise accounting processes, enhance efficiency, and implement best practices. 
  6. Team Collaboration: Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment, encouraging open communication and knowledge sharing among teams. 
  7. Additional Accounting Duties: Assist with other accounting tasks as required.

Qualifications, Required Skills and Experience

  1. Educational Background: Part-qualified ACCA/CA (or equivalent) - ESSENTIAL.
  2. Certifications: Xero Accounting Software Certified - ESSENTIAL
  3. Experience: Proven leadership experience in an accounting environment - ESSENTIAL.
  4. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  5. Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities.
  6. Communication and Leadership: Effective communication and leadership teamwork skills and able to inspire and motivate a team.
  7. Client-Centric Approach: Client-centric mindset with the ability to understand and address client needs effectively.
  8. Attributes: Enthusiastic, well-organised, able to work in a reactive and fast-paced environment and prepared to work hard.
  9. Software Proficiency: Proficient with MS Outlook, MS SharePoint, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Dropbox, Google Drive.
