Job Description

Role: Finance Manager

Location: Head Office, Leicester

Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 plus bonus & benefits

We have an outstanding management opportunity within our Commercial Finance team.  

Managing a team of two, you will be responsible for the reporting, budgeting and forecasting of the Group’s central overhead costs.  In addition, you will oversee the wider reporting of Online profit margins, working closely with other Finance colleagues to improve the reporting and the process of cost allocations across our Online business division

The Role

  • Reviewing cost allocations for consistency, implementing change where necessary. 
  • Reporting overall margins by each division, on a monthly basis, coordinating commentary from other finance teams.
  • Following up on any queries or anomalies identified during monthly management reviews. 
  • Preparing a summary of the Online margins achieved for our external City announcements, providing commentary and insight to the numbers. 
  • Working with peers to understand and/or challenge their method of cost allocation.  
  • Implementing process improvement for cost allocations across all teams, ultimately leading to a more efficient and automated process. 

Business Partnering 

  • Take ownership of cost areas and build good business links with relevant business partners
  • Produce timely management information to enable cost control and present this to cost centre managers
  • Analyse costs, highlighting any opportunities or concerns to the relevant manager
  • Create analysis to support operational business cases

Month End 

  • Completion and reconciliation of related balance sheets
  • Create a system of strong controls to ensure robustness of the work
  • Produce analysis explaining performance which is used to highlight areas of concern during review with relevant Directors and senior finance business partners 

Budgeting & Forecasting 

  • Forecasting & budgeting of costs 
  • Update and maintain relevant schedules to assist with reporting and tracking costs
  • Work with relevant business areas to forecast and help manage costs.  Provide support and challenge to help operational leaders with their decisions
  • Produce analysis to support cost forecasts, looking at both internal and wider business (eg Total platform) factors for justification

Key attributes: 

  • You could either be a qualified accountant, part qualified with considerable experience, or a data expert who has worked with a strong emphasis on controls and reporting. 
  • IT literate - Excel (Essential)
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and communicate complex information clearly
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills to ensure delivery of work to timescales and the ability to prioritise own workload.
  • Self-motivated
