We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team.

In this role, you will:
•Assisting in the development of the annual audit plan and supports completion of the plan
•Leading the delivery of audits, some major and/or highly complex, which provide internal customers and stakeholders with critical assessments of the HSBC governance, risk and internal control frameworks.
•Ensuring that audit assignments are completed in a timely and efficient manner with due respect to the standards established by Global Internal Audit (GIA), industry best practices and the relevant risk and regulatory environment.
•Apply risk based auditing techniques to ensure the effective planning and execution of complex audit assignments, identify the root causes of issues and produce high quality audit reports containing pragmatic recommendations
•Lead and develop an effective audit team by coaching, guiding and mentoring colleagues as appropriate and ensure that the results of the work and ad hoc assignments performed by the team meets the expectations of audit and business management and the regulators;
•Maintain consistent interaction and strong engagement with businesses and other stakeholders;
•Champion and embed best practice management and administrative procedures in own area;
•Maintain HSBC internal control standards, implement and observe Group Compliance Policy and maintain awareness of operational risk;
•Collaborate with the Global and Regional Audit Team by utilising knowledge of both the country and the applicable governance, risk and regulatory frameworks as and when required.


To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

Job Dimensions
•The job holder is normally assigned as team leader for medium or large sized audits. Assignments are set by the INSH Chief Internal Audit Officer but the jobholder is primarily responsible for the scope, approach and successful management of the audit. Guidance is contained in the Group Audit Instruction and various Group FIMs, but the job holder must rely on his/her expertise to balance resource maximisation against effective risk coverage.
•The job holder is required to discuss audit findings and formulate solutions with senior management both on-site and centrally within the audit function. They must be able to give effective evaluations of operational performance and risk assessment to senior management within the audit function and wider business.

Job Context
•An internal audit function is expected to provide the business with a value added service and is now subject to increased regulatory scrutiny. There has been a deliberate transition from an inspection orientated approach to a pro-active risk management methodology which approaches audits based on current and future risks and combines the elements of control, efficiency, opportunity, development, value and growth.
•The jobholder must possess excellent management skills and diplomacy to be effective in sensitive situations. Must have proven ability to balance firmness and tact to manage potentially difficult situations.
•The jobholder must keep up-to-date with changes in the financial services industry, best practices within audit, the risk environment and in the HSBC Group.

Major Challenges
•Ability to work effectively with other auditors, business management, wider audit function and control functions including Compliance, Risk Management and Finance.
•Continuously staying abreast of internal and external changes in the risk environment and being able to assess their impact on the control environment within the Global Businesses and Functions. Provide a timely assessment to Executive Management.
•Continuously enhance audit skills and business/product knowledge in order to make a meaningful contribution in audits, task forces, steering /governance committees.
•Ensure that the results of the work performed by the team collectively (i.e. audit reports, audit committee materials, contributions to other governance/steering committees) meets the expectations of audit and business management and regulators.
•Present issues/recommendations to senior management, actively listening to responses, negotiating details of findings and agreeing remedial actions to address risks.
•Strong educational background to degree standard
•Relevant professional qualification desirable (actuarial, FRM, accounting or audit)
•Applicable industry and product knowledge or regulatory experience
•Credible and professional persona
•Solid and progressive career history (above 15 years related experience)
•Excellent verbal/written articulation skills (English and Mandarin)
