Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) is responsible for managing the Group’s relationships with major corporate and government clients and institutional investors, and provides a full range of capital raising, transactional and risk management products and services. The division also performs an important internal role for the Group by providing equities, markets, lending and transaction banking execution capabilities to other CBA business units that allows them to capture opportunities with business customers.

The IB&M Finance Asia team comprises teams across Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Beijing and Shanghai. The teams look after the end-to-end finance functions including product control, across all business units that roll up into the IB&M branches which include business units representing IB&M and all support functions. You will be a part of the Shanghai Finance team which is responsible for providing timely and accurate statutory, regulatory and management reporting for the CBA Shanghai branch to a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

As Assistant Manager Finance, you will undertake the end to end finance and product control duties for the Shanghai branch.

More specifically, you will:

  • Maintain accounts in workday General Ledger (AUD), Local MIDAS General Ledger (USD) and Local Statutory and tax accounts (CNY)
  • Month end Balance sheet reconciliations and compliance with Group Reconciliation reporting
  • Prepare/review and post monthly journals
  • Daily and monthly and quarterly reporting for the business and Head Office Finance
  • Accounts Payable function and processing of all expenses
  • Preparation/review of local regulatory reports forPBOC, NFRA, SAFE, Statistics Bureau, SAT (daily, weekly, 10-days, monthly, half yearly and yearly)
  • Maintenance of local accounts for fiscal year endDecember and assistance with CHINA GAAP adjustments
  • Assist with various audits and inspections (regulatory, financial, tax)
  • Assist preparing tax returns
  • Frequent communication with the business and Head office finance teams and the ability to follow issues through to resolution.
  • Assist with various projects
  • Champion improvement to enhance operational efficiency and improve reporting control environment

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • People management skill
  • Accounting degree (CPA, CFA or equivalent qualification)
  • Minimum 8-10 years in a finance function, ideally in a main reporting foreign bank branch
  • Strong understanding of financial instruments
  • Solid knowledge in financial accounting and management reporting
  • Excellent understanding of local China regulatory requirements and China GAAP reporting requirements
  • Good time management skills and ability to prioritise.
  • Have the ability to learn quickly and have excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong PC literacy skills and good with excel and pivot tables
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
